Whatever little guy. Have fun ruling horrible cusa basketball. Its going to be interesting what your seeding is in the ncaas with a 32-2 record. Maybe a 3 seed at best. Have fun with that.

Memphis will be either a 1, 2 or 3 seed. Are you making fun of that? How terrible. Get a life.
Keep us updated on that.

I'll do that

Midseason update. Today the NCAA just came out with their first ever public RPI rankings. Memphis is ranked #2. Memphis has beaten six (6) teams ranked in the top 50 of the RPI. Five of those six teams are in the top 27. Duke is the only team with more top 50 RPI wins than Memphis.

Still well on track for a #1 seed.

Where would I find this info?

It's on the NCAA website. This is the first time they have ever made their RPI public. I can't believe that you doubt me. They are going to release it every week until the end of the season.

That poll is useless right now. Memphis only has weak CUSA games left.

Check it out in one month.

I'll bet you right now we don't fall below 5 in the RPI.

During that time I believe Charlotte was pretty good and Marquette was pretty solid. Just top to bottom when Cincy went on a tear the conference was much much better top to bottom. I even think St.Louis made the tourny that year. I have to check and see, but there were several pretty good teams not great teams but ok teams. In all right now I would say Memphis probaby is deserving of a #1 seed but that is not for me to determine. You can't help who you play in conference but in the eyes of the pundits they will always give a free pass to the top of the Big East, ACC, Big 10. If UCONN won the Big East but dropped 3 conference games I guarantee you they would still get a #1 Seed, same goes for the Big 10, and ACC winner. Usually one conference gets two top seeds, I think Memphis deserves a #1 seed if the NCAA tournament started today but I just have a feeling that the NCAA will tell Calipari to bend over and take a back seat. Sometimes getting shafted could be a good thing, I know it was for the cardinals last year, the players used that as motivation and propelled us. I think Memphis has a great shot but the selection committee always seems to have a score with the non power conferences.

Another thing that helped Cincy out was the publicity that team got regardless of conference affiliation. That was the best team in the country that year and it would of been a travesty if that team was not a #1 seed. The contract with jordan and plus during that decade Cincinnati was on a role and dominating CUSA. Huggins teams dominating prior to that year also helped cash in on that seed. Bar none Cincy was the best squad in the nation that year. I will be interesting to see if Memphis or Gonzaga can march through there conferences unbeaten and possibly get a #!.

You must have forgotten about uconn. I stopped counting at 7 top 50 wins, but I think there are at least 8 top 50 wins. Uconn has 4 top 20 wins and 6 top 30 wins.

Memphis is deserving of a #1 seed if the season ended today, IMHO. And based on their RPI, they would certainly get one.

And even if they slide in the RPI a bit due to the weak CUSA, that is not the be-all and end-all. The RPI is just one of many factors. Look at some of the quality teams Memphis has beaten, with losses only to Duke and Texas - two possible #1 seeds.

As long as Memphis wins the CUSA tournament, and doesn't lose more than 1 CUSA game, I would say they are a shoo-in for a #1 seed. Even with 2 CUSA losses it's possible, depending on what happens with other teams. And the way they are playing now, I doubt they lose another game until tourney time, and they have a good shot for the Final 4, in my opinion.

Now, it's true that CUSA is depleted, so comparisons to past CUSA teams that earned a #1 seed are not fair. BUT - Memphis has more than done it's job OOC. What did prior highly-seeded teams out of CUSA do OOC? Maybe they matched what Memphis has done this season, but I don't see how they could have surpassed them.... and frankly they probably weren't as impressive. They had no need to be as strong OOC, since CUSA was much stronger then. It all balances out.

I think we'll see Memphis, Duke, UCONN and Texas as the 4 #1 seeds come NCAA tourney time.

Very good analysis. CollegeRPI.com projects Memphis to be 28-2 going into the C-USA tournament with a RPI of #5. Memphis already owns the #1 RPI non-conference strength of schedule and the Tigers went 14-2 vs. that schedule. Memphis can do nothing about the terrible basketball conference we play in. We can do something about our out of conference schedule, which we did and it was the best schedule in the country. On top of that, Memphis is 7-0 on the road. Clearly, if the season ended today, Memphis would get a #1 seed.
