Aresco says Big East looking to add 12th school

CROMWELL, Conn. (AP) — Big East commissioner Mike Aresco says the conference is looking to add another school, and may sign a TV deal with multiple networks.

Aresco spoke at a local chamber of commerce breakfast in Middletown on Monday, and talked to reporters afterward.

Aresco says the Big East wants to keep its name as it rebrands, and wants to add one more school to give it 12 playing both football and basketball after Navy joins the league in 2015.

He says he believes conference realignment picture may be settling down. He also said he hopes deals can be worked out to keep traditional conference rivalry games intact even after the so-called Catholic seven schools leave the Big East to form their own basketball league.

The realignment issue will never settle down as long as there is money to be made.

I know I'm not alone, but I want us out of the circus.

based on all the smoke/chatter about B12/ACC alliance and expansion me thinks the Big 12 is gonna be looking for more than one school to add to the Big
East :-)

Maybe we can add Juanita's school of cosomotology next.

What? Is Mt. St. Joe not returning their phone calls?

Southern Miss would be much better than Tulsa at this point. We need that region for better bowl interest. Close to several bowls even if smaller ones.

Whenever I read about potential Big East expansion it brings to mind a Dennis Miller quote, "two of ****....is ****, if they really wanted to F you they would give you three of these things". This applies to Southern Miss, Tulane, Tulsa, ECU, UMass, etc...

You know, UC was not all that great in football when they joined the Big East. I know the problem is perception, and this league on paper looks awful and the money it will get from tv will reflect that, but that does not mean these teams can't improve.

The bigger problem is we are back in the boat with them monetarily and at a disadvantage against the 'big' conferences - and how do we get out of it?

pray for the Big to take at least two teams from ACC and that they actually want to replace them
