I couldn't believe it. That timeout after the basket killed us. UTEP was out of timeouts, so we shouldn't have given them time to plan it out.

I can sorta get calling a timeout and telling your guys not to make a stupid foul or whatever in that situation because in the late game scrambles like that bonehead moves happen. It was a stuptastic move IMO to not put a guy on the inbounder and at least cause the guy some trouble. UTEP got the ball in right where they wanted wide open and with their guy moving towards the basket. That should have never happened to basically have no one pressuring the inbounder or the guy getting ball. At the end of the day though we still forced a tough shot and that was a hell of a shot from 30 feet by a guy that was 6-17 coming into the game. Can't really do much more than that. We had put ourself in a position to win where the odds should have been in our favor.

RE: Moore's winning shot In case you missed it in the UTEP-ECU thread.
I was about 20 feet away from the guy when he shot it and could tell it was going in when he released it. Made me want to go homicidal/suicidal right when it happened, but you have to tip your hat to UTEP for playing from wire to wire and never giving in. It was an emotional and chippy (to say the least) game at times. When the crowd is awesome and we win you feel like you had an impact. So kudos to UTEP and that kid in particular for facing one of the better Minges crowds in the past couple years and winning at the end anyways.

It still stings because of how we lost but we lost to a good team. I would love to see more of these games against UTEP in Minges but it's not to be. Good luck the rest of the season. 04-cheers

DAMNIT! It still hurts. My heart dropped when it went in. Never have I EVER been so disappointing about an athletic event in my whole life. GO Pirates!

We UTEP fans definitely feel your pain. This happened to us more than 20 years ago, but it still hurts to watch it ...

Two seasons ago, I had to deal with it THREE TIMES!

Memphis, UCF and UAB all did it against Southern Miss. UCF and UAB in back-to-back games!

Whew, yeah that would have been a tough one to swallow.

Also, In the game thread the ECU and UTEP fans went at it a bit, but I think it was mostly because we we're pissed lol. In the grand scheme of things though, I would like to say you guys are a real classy bunch. I went to UTEP for the tournament 2 years ago, and I had a blast. We were on Spring break and flew down there for the tournament. I'm gonna miss this game being played annually, because it's turning into a friendly rivalry real quick, ya'll! 05-stirthepot

Back atcha. And I agree ... this series was heating up quite nicely -- just in time for it to come to an end. :muttering:

Kevin [expletive deleted] Nixon.

Well, BYU got to get crushed by Shaq and LSU while we got to upset Kansas. So, all ended right in the universe.

Hopefully the game will be played OOC sometime in the near future.

+ 1, STexMiner!

I'd be all for it if we could continue games with this kind of intensity, pittman. But I wonder if either school would travel halfway across the country for a non-conference matchup.
