We're not the only team that has a bad game every so often. In the NCAA tourney, it's just as likely our opponent could have one as the Tigers.
I don't disagree about the other team part but name the last game we really looked good in and I'm talking a whole game not 10 or 15 minutes..

It's been a while. The poor shot selection, unforced turnovers and rebounding issues are frustrating. I am hoping by mid March much of this will be corrected.

Call me naive, but I think most of the "miserables" or whatever you want to call them are just trying to promote what they think is in the best interest of the team.

(similar to your viewpoint-- you want the best possible out of the team, so you aren't complacent)

I am happy to be winning these games, but at the same time I'm concerned that something is missing on the intensity end, and that this will come back to bite us.

The "miserables" have seen this play out over the past few seasons, and they aren't necessarily blaming Pastner. But is it not possible that this lack of focus is why we haven't beaten a top 25 team or won a tournament game (both of which involve playing with almost constant focus and poise)?

Maybe the "miserables" also understand that there is no margin of error with this team-- a loss could be disastrous to our seeding and two could put us out of the tournament. "Dancing around the fire" has bitten the Tigers the past two seasons.

Remember two seasons ago-- people expressed concerns after UAB took us to overtime. They were called "miserables" and told to enjoy the win. But it was evident we had problems. The next week we were stomped by Marshall and beaten at home by Tulsa (at this exact same point in the season as we're in now)!

And last year, people pointed out problems after our single digit home win against Marshall. The next game we got beat against Southern Miss.

At 15-3, this team is in great shape. But I think the "miserables" just want to ensure that the team lives up to it's potential. Given our history over the past three seasons, I think it's OK to point out flaws in close wins, especially when the alternative, a close loss, could put us out of the tournament.

If Marshall hits that 3 to take the lead at the end of the game, people are singing a different tune. The divide between a win and a loss is razor thin, yet this board is so bipolar that we can only sing praises if we win, and can only be doom and gloom if we lose.

What worries me is that we don't have a Will Barton type player capable of taking over. Will basically took it on his shoulders last season. I personally thought we'd be a better TEAM without Will, but my goodness, we are struggling. What has happened to Adonis? What's up with AT? Is Ferro still on the team? Crawford?

It's depressing to think about. I need a drink. Or five.

Did we play our best game today? No. I think we can all agree about that.

Did we lead the entire game? Yes.
Did we have a couple players in foul trouble? Yes.
Did we win? Yes.

Critique, gives suggestions on how to improve.
But, in my opinion, the constant negative banter of how we are "terrible" and "no way we make the tourney" is pointless and simply put FALSE.

We need to continue to get better, improve our weaknesses, and JUST WIN BABY.

Apparently, statements from posters that they want Josh to leave and that , for example, Joe Jackson isn't even a DI level is just because they want the team to get better.

I keep forgetting....Josh and Co suck at their jobs and the basketball Gods on here must constantly try help guide them. Those same mt.org Gods, however, are above reproach and have actually been spotting down off Riverside drive......walking on the water.

What exactly are you referring to as negative? Is bitching negative? is pointing out flaws or weaknesses negative? Is a lively debate negative? We just beat a team at home by one point that got obliterated by a team that is nowhere near our equal. At least not on paper.

Reading comprehension is your friend. Also, I very clearly stated "critique, give suggestions on how to improve," but of course that part of what I said gets ignored, as does the "we need to continue to get better, improve our weaknesses.."

I don't see anyone having a lively debate. There are people hell bent on being negative doing that, and those hell bent on being overly positive. We just need to find the balance. Criticism is good, useful and helpful, but that's not what's really happening either.

There are valid points being made on both sides.

Pointing out that the team had a sub par performance does not negate pastner doing an overall good job.

I get that, but I think we all see those people. Its become way to convenient to lump everybody into that camp.

Just ignore those people like the rest of us. I want Josh to succeed too, but I'll be damned if I'm going to sing "Up Up with People" for beating Marshall by one point at home today.

There's plenty of negative things to talk about that warrant good conversation. I'm not interested in not being able to talk about it. Being "negative" doesn't mean you don't want the best for your team any more than the people who want to hide their heads in the sand (why the hell they would want to do that is beyond me).

Nice win streak. Some of our players have improved and that's a good sign. Joe and DJ are playing really well. Hope the next 7-8 wks prepare us for a decent run in the tournament. All I want, as a fan and a Pastner supporter, is a tournament win and I've a feeling we'll get it this yr.

It would be nice if our team would play with a killer mentality. Since 7 of our remaining 11 games are on the road, we have a chance to improve as a team and hopefully get stronger mentally.

We need to continue to get better, improve our weaknesses, and JUST WIN BABY.

Fine, I haven't read every post today but every time someone points out a problem, a half dozen stupid threads get started telling everyone who is "negative" needs to go F themselves. Why doesn't someone of authority here tell them to lighten up? It seems to be encouraged around here.

This isn't a rah rah club. It's a discussion forum.
