They used to allow smoking in the concourse and when you would get ready too leave the smoke was so thick you would choke on it.

Wonder what they are doing now? Fans were older then too and the Medicine Man would come in whooping and get the crowd going. Radar was the ultimate student cheerleader. I miss the electricity of the coliseum.

It was special. No frills, just fans who really wanted to be there. Supply and demand at its best definition.

Early 2000's WCW at the coliseum and not the pyramid? Interesting.
Early 2000 wcw couldn't afford the pyramid
I moved to the Pyramid when it opened to do the same job I had at the MSC. I forget which wrestling entity it was, but that was one of the first several events at The Pyramid. It wasn't Mid South Wrestling or whatever it was called. It was McMahan's troupe.
I literally ran into "The Undertaker" backstage and that was the first man who really ever scared the hell out of me.

Greatest Tiger Basketball memory: John McLaughlin hitting a three at the buzzer against Drake after being 9 down with under a minute to play.It was in the 80's sometime. Sat in the "Golden Circle" for that one.
are you sure you're not thinking of the game vs Bradley with Hersey Hawkins?
I remember going as a guest with my brother who was a Freshman in high school and a BIG tiger fan and got hooked. I remember getting on the waiting list for season tickets mid-70's and being told that there were about 10,000 in front of me. Then the hubby took a night job so I wanted to go by myself so changed the request to 1 season ticket...was called that next year that 1 had opened up if I wanted it. Boy did I. I remember seeing all the old folks siting in those prime seats called the Golden Circle ? and wishing I could sit there. Now, I'm them (old) and I sit in a pretty nice section of the FEF...funny how that all turned out.

I did attend things such as rodeos and such there. Would have been an awesome place to see the Tigers play. I bet if you were to walk in right now, it would have that same smell. Hate to see it sitting there empty and rotting.
Coincidentally, Nashville's Municipal Auditorium also just turned 50 years old.
In fact, I just attended a two-day conference there a week ago! Despite having the more modern Bridgestone Arena just six blocks away, they've managed to keep this old joint operating on a regular basis. I wa particularly impressed with how clean it was. Have been going there since about 1965 and it hasn't changed a bit!
What an exciting time to be of age to experience all of that. Overnight everyone had a Beatle haircut (my school wouldn't allow it) were buying guitars and drums and music has probably never been better.
Never got to see The Beatles live but made up for it by seeing McCartney numerous times and Ringo twice. Basically, seeing McCartney is as close to seeing The Beatles as possible.
