It frustrates me Josh only went with a big lineup once in the 2nd half. DJ had his moments but, they were too big on the inside. This was a game to play 2 bigs.

Joe still impresses me with his composure. Adonis played better today. Black seems to be coming back to form.

josh does not like 2 bigs, he just doesn't for some reason. foul trouble with black limited it today though

Black has to be taught to stop going for the block. Tarik has just about the same instincts and timing for blocks as he does for rebounding. He ends up picking up more fouls than blocks.

it would help tarik if we could keep their guards out of the lane

I agree completely which is another reason I am so adamant about Tarik needs to stop going for the block. All he needs to do is stand straight, arms straight and 1/2 the time the guard will back it out. If he shoots over Tarik and makes the shot, the blame is on the guard who got beat on defense.

Its the guards job to keep opposing guards out of the lane. But, even with Tarik in foul trouble, you go with him because keeping 1 of the 2 bigs out of the game killed the team on the boards.

tarik is not very good at getting into position to take the charge either. I don't know what to do about it, it's been going on since they were all freshmen

another thing i notice is our guards are not just beaten, they're totally beaten and out of the play. a lot of the time even if a man gets by you you can sort of be on his hip and limit his movement to a straight line drive.
often we are 3 feet behind the driving guard. makes it hard for tarik because he can't just go to a spot and set his feet, the guard can mov side to side

Right. I would rather him give up the bucket than the fouls.

Thank you. Only when a guard blows by another guard or gets picked does he enter the lane and Tarik has to decide what to do.

Yep and going for the block is the wrong thing to decide when it comes to Tarik. It is more likely he comes down with a foul than with the block.

When our guards get beat they really don't chase hard...They don't take it personal.

Even when we went with two bigs Marshall still killed us on the boards. We simply didn't rebound well at all saturday

Right. I would rather him give up the bucket than the fouls.

The worst possible scenario is giving up the basket and then fouling softly.

My oh my!

Get your money's worth-make em thank twice next time-and make em shoot free throws

IMHO

In Josh's first year, 4 of 6 players who played 20+ min/game were guards. Last year, it was 4 of 7. This year, it's 4 of 8. He is spreading the minutes around more and playing more bigs than before, but it just seems he prefers speed to size. Not only does he rarely have Black and Shaq in together, he still has two serviceable, give-a-guy-a-breather type bigs sitting on the bench most of the game.
