RE: Patrick Coyne: Fullback
Well... I guess that's that. Good luck to Patrick at his new position, but do wish we could have seen him get some snaps at QB (maybe he still will?)

2013: Brendon Kay
2014: ??? (Norvell, perhaps?)

RE: Patrick Coyne: Fullback
Does this mean that Coney/Norvell are looking better than expected?

RE: Patrick Coyne: Fullback
I imagine this means that they told Coyne that there are 3-4 QBs ahead of him and if he wants to play, his 6' 1' 228 frame is would be better served as a fullback...and UC needs at least 1 FB. I bet they get him up in the 235-240 lb area and he gets to carry the rock a couple of times this year, catching out of the backfiield and blocking for our RBs. This could be a good move for him. Some trickeration could come into play also as he could be a threat to throw anytime. He'd also be a good candidate for blocking on punts and running/throwing on the occasional punt fake.

I think it's too early to read into how Coney and Norvell are doing - I don't think they have had much (if any) practice time with them yet. I'm sure Tuberville and his staff have looked at tapes and like what they have seen. It's awesome Coyne is willing to do this. As said before, he has the frame, and it sounds like the mentality, to be a pretty good fullback. I'm looking forward to seeing him blast some LBs and DBs to open holes for our RBs. RDAIV could use a blocker in front of him.

Seems strange timing for this to come out. HOw would the coaches know where he is vs. the other QB's? Have they had any practices yet?

No organized practices with the new staff but Tuberville was around during the bowl practices. Maybe he made his evaluations during that time period.

RE: Patrick Coyne: Fullback
He'll be a very good one if he buys in. Seeing that he was adamant about being a QB, I hope this switch works out.

Whether or not he is disappointed with the move, the certainty is, that he will see the field quite a lot.
