C-USA Baseball Question
How may teams will there be next year ?

Where is the conference tourney played ?

Looking forward to some baseball trips with the old man-- who is retired now, and goes to pretty much all of the Blue Raider road games.

Which teams do NOT play baseball, other than the North Texicans ?

2013 Tourney will be at Rice. http://www.chron.com/sports/rice/article...040747.php Next year isn't set yet, I don't believe.

UTEP and UNT don't play. So, 14 teams for next year?

Tulsa also does not play baseball.
Since the tourney is at Rice this year and ECU and Tulane will be on their way out, my guess is the tourney will be @ Southern Miss next year.

I doubt it; not after being in Pearl, MS the past 2 years. Wouldn't be surprised if one of the newbies (e.g., Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech) get it, provided they have quality facilities.

14 teams next year? So a 39 game conference schedule.

That's not going to happen. It will be broken down into divisions. No way conference games begin before the 4th weekend of the regular season. (Currently, they start the 5th weekend.)

I count 13. Middle Tennessee, Florida Atlantic, Charlotte, FIU, Louisiana Tech, Old Dominion, UTSA, East Carolina, Marshall, Rice, USM, Tulane and UAB. They might need to add a 14th for a balanced schedule but I'm not sure who that could be.

North Texas will be playing baseball within two years. Stadium construction begins this year, although not yet officially announced. We're currently having to wait for the new track facility to be built. The school wants to tear down Fouts ASAP (this spring).

I feel like USM will try and host it in Hattiesburg. If years past stay true USM will put in a good bid as we traditionally are in the top 25 for attendance. Up until last year, our baseball team outdrew our basketball team on an average basis.

I doubt any of the newbies have the facilities to match rice or usm...also Pearl was an independent organization that had nothing to do with Southern Miss.

This looks pretty solid... IMO.

OK, CUSA baseball is pretty top notch. Rice has won a CWS and we are usually a 3 bid conference and usually can get hosting love too.

Now NEXT season when you play you will face the following top teams from CUSA: ECU, USM, Tulane, and Rice. Houston was pretty decent.

The season after that it would be hard to say except you'd be down to Rice and USM.

Both are too small IMO, when comparing to USM and Rice. ECU won't be allowed to host with us leaving. When the new minor league park in finish in Burmingham UAB can host, that looks to be a first class facility. IMO, you need to be able to hold 3,000+ to host. Not sure if C-USA has a minimum seating ability to host or not, but ECU host the tourny our first year in C-USA for all sport, but we hosted at Grainger Stadium in Kinston, NC 30 minutes from Greenville. That was before we built Clark-LeClair stadium.

A shame that ballpark is being wasted now. Kinston is in shambles and the lost of the K-Tribe was quite possibly the nail in the coffin

Reese Smith is 2600 in the main grandstand. It can be expanded to accommodate another 2500 or so with bleachers down the baseline if needed.

The $6.6 million renovation a few years ago was developed with the intent to be able to host a regional. Hosting a Regional is a little easier than the conference tournament, but shouldn't be too much of a problem at MT.

BTW, once upon a time I was scouting for the Mets in the Carolinas and was a GM for the Durham club in the Coastal Plain League. There are some awesome, classic stadiums across N.C.

You forget about our "tertiary" grandstand out in centerfield :
