Our coaches have used that tactic for years...I can remember recruits from the mid the 2005-2008 era saying that.
I would think promising a move could hurt as well. It could mean no playoff, and no bowls, ie transitional seasons that don't mean much. Kind of like having lame duck seasons.

Throw in an OOC game the first transition year @ Hawaii to replace playoffs / bowl

Good outside the box thinking. We'll probably do the opposite though and schedule U. of Minnesota in late November.

6'2", 304 DT. That's some size for the line!

And the kid can move! That's the kind of lineman I'm talking about. Might have to sweat this one out. The big boys might have been late to this big boy but they will find him. Hope we don't have to stave off a wolfpack during his senior year.

Love the quickness for his size, and has a nice swim move as a NT. His last name is great too... He's a real "S-O-B Czak machine!"

That's why I wish there was an early signing period. Long way to February and a whole senior season to play

What I like is that he has a mean streak; it's evident watching the video.

RE: Football recruits
The one thing that I notice about QB's we're getting commitments from, is that their down-field passing seems to have some touch. Of course we don't know who MM will keep in the QB position or even if they will be wearing purple 3 years from now. But, I like that we seem to be making offerings to guys who really are QB's rather than the super athlete types to play QB. This doesn't mean that I don't like having the superman athletes on the team, its just that a QB really needs to be a thinker and at every moment have his head into the game.

You may ask me, "what about Rodney?" Good question, but if you really watched Rodney play, he made some of the greatest decisions I've ever witnessed a QB make. The kid had the smarts to go along with his talent. The first two playoff games in '08 were masterfully orchestrated by Rodney. I'm still disappointed that he's not in the NFL. The other great one of recent years was Rascati who was the toughest kid to have ever played QB at JMU. He had "Heart" to go with his football smarts. But was more of the type kid we seem to be recruiting today for the position.

He doesn't have offers from VT. 247 Sports says VT's interest is "cool" and Rivals lists his only other offer as NC Central. Are you seeing something different?

I remember getting recruits as early as August...but yeah, this is definitely really early it seems.

ATL,
I read that he was being recruited by the DC of VPISU. The kid also attended a camp in Blacksburg last month and impressed those coaches in Hokie-ville.

Hence, my comment on the kid keeping his commit to JMU. Nothing more...nothing less.

Got it. I wasn't seeing a lot of strong interest in him from other schools when reviewing the recruiting websites, so I was just curious if I was missing something. Thanks.

The State of Virginia is supposed to have a hell of a lot of great recruits for 2014 and many may want to stay within the state... So this could be the result of that.
