Nice. The next step is to put more than 8,700 fans per game in it... consistently. Double that and the Sun Belt will almost surely come knocking.
The Sun Belt did come knocking. Missouri State said no, although the MVC is just one defection away from being knocked down into a lower level of basketball, and Missouri State hasn't been to a NCAA tournament in many years.
Missouri State makes sense for the Belt. Both ways. For the Belt, they would provide a geographically sensible addition with good basketball. For Missouri State, they'd get FBS as well as a place to play sports where there would be THREE teams closer to them than any other MVC member.
But Missouri State currently either doesn't want FBS or they really can't fathom competing in basketball in a weaker league.
Unlike Liberty, Jacksonville State, Lamar, or UMass (football only), Missouri State would probably be admitted by unanimous consent if they were interested.

SBC Never really came knocking. There was a conversation, but never really anything overly serious despite what was reported. Missouri State is not prepared to move up at this time. They may be in the future, but not now.

I like the campus shot. MSU looks like a MAC sized school.
Its too bad the MAC doesn't have room for Missouri St. It would be a good pickup for the MAC since there is no other S5 representative in the state. The same goes for Illinois (NIU), Michigan (WMU, CMU, EMU), Indiana (BSU), New York (Buffalo). Only in Ohio is their cross over with UC and that could go away if they move to a P5 conference.
JMU just seems like a smaller public school over populated with a stadium larger than what the campus was designed for. A lot of MAC East schools recruit MD and VA heavily as it is and a MAC school there would cut into recruiting.

MO St AD Kyle Moats is a great guy...I know him personally and sat with him in his own suite at Plaster field for a game three years ago. Just a genuinely nice guy.

The MAC only has 13 right now... And with UMass making their exit in a year, they have room if they wanted to...

The MAC has 12 full members and a tight footprint.
I don't see the MAC wanting to make an addition unless somebody left and like the MWC at 12 its something that may not happen for decades.
