You were selected for CUSA because of your geographic location. Nothing more.

That is a fact. That has been the CUSA strategy. It is well known that is what there intention is. It is no secret. There is no argument about it.

That is not saying that your school does not have positives or that someone is superior. It is just stating the fact that any of those other positives are NOT the reason you were selected.

Some people think that is not a good strategy and are commenting on it.

Getting bent out of shape to the extent that you are getting bent out of shape about that fact is a sign of immaturity and gives the exact opposite impression you are trying to convey.

The impression is that you are insecure about your school and are over-compensating and seeing devils behind every corner.

And I don't buy the people acting like Arkansas State deserved it way more. There is nothing to support that at all.

Alright, Tulsa and Southern Mississippi look like they're going to finally get into the Big East. Unless the CUSA is content to stay at 12 (10 until their 2 FCS move ups come on in 2014), it's safe to say that one or two will be taken from what's left of the sun belt.

This will leave the conference with 6 teams and STILL no announcement of new additions. What is Benson waiting for again? The more the conference comes apart, the more likely FCS teams are to turn down invitations and say, "no thanks, we're okay where we are".

I would hope for 2 SBC teams but it could very well be NM St/WKU.

Understandable. But they need to be sure because that is more than likely going to be a permanent decision.

The door to FBS will permanently close soon.

Don't believe the door to FBS will be closing soon, believe there may very well be a realignment knocking everyone out of the highest football except for the Power 5. Too much money to be made by them and greed will make them take that jump.

so conferences won't bother to look at fcs teams until they fall below 8 teams? don't want to share their pie?

So far the money agreement is divided by conference...not by school. That right there encourages the SBC to stay small and make CUSA think twice about getting any bigger.

No matter what FBS conference you are in it makes sense to not have FBS grow any larger. The reason it has been growing larger is survival...it looks like maybe they are trying to work out the arrangements that encourage that door to close.

I like to see the Sun Belt add Appalachian State, Chattanooga, and Georgia Southern from the Southern Conference. College of Charleston is leaving for the CAA anyways.

Chattanooga would be a good add in terms of geography and even market, but they're just not ready and they need a baseball team.

If the Sun Belt ends up surviving by replacing CUSA defectors with FCS schools, what has the Sun Belt lost? Time is about the only thing. MTSU is, so far, the only quality loss as I see it. App, Ga Southern, and James Madison replace what has left easily. Jax St., Chattanooga, Sam Houston, Lamar, Mizzou St., Arlington, and Liberty are still out there as possibilities.

It still seems the logical choice for the SBC is to add App and Ga Southern for 2013 (Transition year one) and continue working with others as possible 2014 additions.
