Drew Champlin seems to be suggesting UAB might have some "silent" commitments that we aren't revealing yet.

He did make a recruiting trip to Chicago. With our tiny recruiting budget I doubt he would go there unless he had a really good chance of landing the kid.

There were a couple of interested guys in Illinois. Have any of them verbally committed to us?

Jaylen Dunlap committed to Illinois. He's the only one I know of up there besides Kendall Moore.

Look do I have to post another Good Vibe Thread, I have no problem with these kids changing their minds, its best they make the right or wrong decision themselves, that way they are responsible for the choice, and they cannot point fingers, if things don't work out.

These are 18 yoa children and if you know that age group, you know they could be standing next to a trash can with the intent to place the trash in their hands in the can, but if they don't do it right then, you never know where the the trash winds up.

Most of us were the same way, very impulsive short attention span. The one difference I notice with kids today is, they seem to want instant gratification, not saying they dont want to earned it, just saying they want it now.

Most of the recruits seem to be saying one thing more then other thing and that is playing time/ or the possibility to play early was a factor in them switching commitments

Where would today's youth get the idea of immediate gratification or solution to any problem? They have grown up on TV shows where all crimes, life difficulties and mysteries are resolved in 30 minutes or an hour. All TV teachers have only one problem student per episode, all families have only one situation going on each week, the criminal always leaves just enough evidence to be caught by the end of the hour, etc. The "good guys" win and the "bad guys" lose almost every time (unless a sequel is already in the works).

Only adults in real life are stuck with many problems at once with no easy, simple and immediate answers. Ten and 15 year long wars are the stuff of reality, not TV or movie plots. In the movies, only the "good guys" can shoot straight and their targets blow up at just the right time.

& in quite a bit of cases the choice is based upon where can I play, are the dorms good, how does the stadium look, instead of what am I going to do after college, what can I do when & if I get my degree, how will I feel being away from home - especially this far away from home?

Except for drinking and buying guns.

Voting and dying at war, they are adults dammit.

RE: Football Signing Day Social Set For Feb. 6
We have established, usually through laws, a series of age specific points for being "an ADULT person". 16-Drive a car; 18- get married without parental consent, register to vote, join the military; 21- legally buy alcoholic beverages (in AL anyway). Why were these ages established? Because we had to arbitrarily set some age for each one and hope the person is ready by then for the responsibility. Alabama law states you must start school when you are 7 years old and compulsory attendance runs to your 16th birthday (there has been talk of lowering 7 to 6 and to raising 16 to 17 or 18, but I don't think it has become law).

Legal definitions are not meant to be reality for all persons. I have known 40 something persons I considered immature and teenagers who were very mature in their behavior. We have not found a way to make laws perfect in their application to all humans. That is why we have judges running the trials - they are supposed to rule judiciously. The movie "Private Benjamin" was a good study of an immature person who was brought to adulthood in the US Military. It has not always worked out that well for everybody.

You people have completely missed the point, even without the incongruous Private Benjamin reference.. You are acting as if there are only two categories: children or adults. There are other categories. To me, children are people who have not reached puberty. Maybe that is why we lose so much. Are we recruiting players who haven't reached puberty.
