So, we're clear, UAB isn't wanted in the Big East, and Troy isn't wanted in CUSA?
How you get we'd be in the same conference from that remains a mystery to me.

4 Sun Belt schools, 2 WAC schools, and 2 FCS callups have all been added to C-USA without Troy even getting a mention. I don't think Troy is leaving the Belt unless it disbands.
If it was about facilities, they would get an invite. Their football stadium and basketball arena are very nice.

I never said C-USA wanted nothing to do with Troy.

So, UAB's going to end up in the Belt? Not a bunch of teams from the Belt, but the actual Belt?

For the record, since I helped with this derail, I think we should play Troy every year in football.

Troys a bunch of sheep lovers
They are classless
We gain nothing playing them
Actually, its a good rivalry game, they bring a good crowd, and its a fun game to watch in general. I hope we can keep an everyother year game if not every year.
Ever made the trip to Pike County?
I come by my opinions of Troy honestly.
+1

We need to play Troy every year. We need Troy more than Troy needs us. Diluting this series would be stupid.
We draw more for UAB vs. Troy than Troy draws for UAB at Troy. Troy's athletic department is doing very well, and they are moving up. They've stalled out a little lately, but I'm more confident in the stability of their situation than I am of ours. They get big home games. They are successful at their level. They have great school spirit in the student body and the alumni base, and they take over that town on gameday. And they have an excellent sports business/ management program that feeds interns and entry-level employees into their athletic department, most of whom are Troy fans. If they want to spend $40 million on a basketball arena for 200 fans in Middle of Nowhere, Alabama, they just do it. They don't need the UAB game on their schedule. We need 30,000 people at Legion Field. If Troy is every other year, and Southern Miss turns into an every-other-year series too, we have very few big-draw games on the home schedule ever. Not good. People aren't going to like all that Troy ball-washing, but whatever.
This problem gets solved immediately if they move to C-USA and get put in our division.

The year we played ASU, they brought as many fans as Troy ever has.

I've got no beef with playing Troy, but let's not act like they're doing us a favor by playing us.

Whoa whoa whoa! You need to learn how to quote. I don't want it to look like that was attributed to me.

I would love to see the UAB/Samford match up in both basketball and football. I think having two local teams play each other would get a lot of local interest and there are a lot of people in Birminghan that have ties to both schools.

It didn't before in the heyday of UAB basketball.
Those were some tough games as I remember. Craig Beard and Rob Drum took us to the wire one year.

RE: UAB-Troy Every Other Year After 2014?
Samford didn't bring that many fans in basketball when they have played UAB at UAB.
That was several years ago though, so maybe it might be different now.
Tillette had some good years attendance wise, not sure how Benny is doing on attendance.
In football, it would draw more than a lot of the teams we play, however USM & Troy games would draw more, IMO.
JSU had a good crowd whenever we played them in football.
