I am calling it now...

84-78 (2 OT)

Can we please play this game on a Saturday?

But that would give a MAC team a legitimize conference game on a Saturday where the stands could be rather full...ESPN would never allow it.

Four coaches in seven years, not sure how we can be favored to win anything. Does noone else on here realistically think we regress a bit under the new staff? We have a ton of talent but unproven coach and an improving conference around us. We are far from a lock for anything. I don't think I can name a major program in FBS that has been able to successfully sustain at a high level with so much coaching turnover in recent years. Almost all experience a drop off once the dust settles. Kill and Doeren worked out well but to expect Carey to just step in with equal success seems a strecth out of the gate.

The Mountain West becomes yet another conference to hold it's title game on campus sites, a good move.

Yup bring this thing back to the home stadium!

Unfortunately they signed an extension recently. I think thru the 2015 season.

I am in favor of the games at Ford Field. Easy trip, a neutral field, and it's indoors. MAC schools need to do a better job of getting their fans there. But with attendance down across college football, they can't expect much.

The MAC needs to pick one...

If they want to keep the game at Ford Field then move it to Saturday at 2:30pm on ESPNU.

OR

If they want to keep the game on Friday night then move it to our home stadiums and keep the 6pm ET kickoff on ESPN2.

As great as Ford field is, Detroit SUXXXX...... I would love if they could move this game to Indianapolis, that city would be perfect as it is so easy to walk around downtown due to how small it is and the location isn't that bad, maybe a little south but it would be considerably nicer given the lack of graffiti and basic overall crap factor of the city

If the game were on a Saturday, that would be best. Whether the game is in Detroit or Indy makes no difference to me. If I had a choice, I'd pick Indy, but Detroit is fine with me. Plus, Detroit needs the revenue more.

If its on Saturday it would have to be in Detroit. That other conference has their championship game on Saturday in Indy.

Can't imagine they get much revenue with such a small crowd.

If we move to campus sites, my kids won't be able to add to their streaks of seeing games in NFL venues without ever seeing an actual NFL game.

They're at three stadiums and six games right now.

2 Concerts & 5 NIU games in pro stadiums without seeing a pro game.

Last time I was at a pro game of any kind Frank Thomas returned to the Cell for the first time after his time ended with the Sox. They played a quick tribute to him on the jumbo-tron before his first bat. He waved to the crowd and everyone gave him a standing O. He then hit a HR and there were half cheers with the other half muttering. The next time he came up it was to some cheers. He hit another HR...everyone booed but not towards FT but to the WS front office. It was rather funny.

Hard to disagree, as many of said it would take an undefeated season and then its probably only a 20 percent chance given all the scenarios that would have to happen with Fresno St and Boise St to name a few. Nice to see NIU picked to win the division though given the losses on defense. Im afraid it will come down to scheduling with how close NIU and Toledo are, and the Rockets get the Huskies in the Glass Bowl.

If CFN is legit, they will predict Toledo to win the MAC West, MACC, and get into a BCS game - and win that. All the other ratings services seem to agree with Toledo fans that the Rockets are the best thing since sliced bread and should easily be pre-season #1 (in the nation).

Correction: The Rockets were the greatest thing before sliced bread was sliced bread. 03-wink

If I were Coach Carey I would tell the team that virtually every position is up for grabs, which is not far from the truth by the way. There's a small number of guys who are locks for their position: Lynch on offense, Jimmie Ward on defense, Mayer, Sims and Wedel on special teams. Just about every other position could have legitimate competition and playing time should go to those who kill themselves between now and September.
I think what happened in the Orange Bowl will eliminate the threat of complacency.

It'll never happen, but with how bad the MAC Championship draws and the struggle of the Big 10 Championship selling tickets, a double header in Indianapolis would make so much sense. Put the MAC Championship at 11 am and the Big 10 Championship at 7 pm.

That would be a great day of football with a double header like that. Both conferences win along with Indianapolis. A great idea that will never happen as it makes too much sense.

You better believe it.

The guys that are coming back know that they have to be even better if they're going to go up against a team like Florida State again.

I would hope that Lynch above everyone else realizes this. He talked big before the game, but couldn't back it up. Hopefully he takes this
experience to heart and realizes that even with the monster year he had, he's got a lot to improve on.

Same with Carey. He did not make himself look good in the press conference after the game, but I have the feeling he recognizes this misstep and never does something like that again. First time coaching jitters maybe.

Like I said in another thread, I think having Iowa as the first game next year will help immensely in preparation. The team knows they should've beaten them last year, even with an offense with a QB, RB, and 5 O-Linemen making their first start. They're gonna come into that game expecting to win.
