The good thing about all this is that at the end of the day, anything Lunardi says about the tournament means absolutely nothing to the people that make the actual selections

Memphis (at large) 11 seed vs. St Mary's in play in game.
Memphis last of his "last 4 in."
*Autobid awarded to current league leader or highest computer rating in case of a tie
I would prefer to talk about how stupid it is to make brackets in January. Lunardi isn't very accurate the day before the seeds come out much less a couple of months.
Eh. Gives us something to talk about. Same as polls.
Exactly, gotta chat about something.
BTW, I liked Soda better than Super Macho Man. Soda is the best.
It was time for a change. Although the pink background in Soda's avatar made it easier to find my posts (which is good or bad depending on who is looking for them).
I vote for King Hippo.

I wasn't sure if that was racist or insensitive towards fat people. Looking back, though, the drunk Russian was a bit of a stereotype too.

They are mostly stereotypes.
Most of them are hilarious however.

Scares me a little in one major way. Didn't he have us higher last time?
I thought he had us as like a 6 and we got a 8...

Well, it was a screw job. We should have been at least a #7 seed. Problem is, the Tigers went out and kinda proved the Committee right by losing to Saint Louis.

It was absolutely a screw job, but my concern is. Let's say we don't win out, but come awfully close.
Let's call it... 5 losses. 13 games left plus (hopefully) 3 in the tourney.
16 games. Go 14-2 (L @UTEP, @USM for example)
29-5... zero top 50 wins.
Whatever happened to those Utah St teams that won the WAC and got 27+ win seasons and 12 seeds? Nothing good :(
I'm not saying we'll deserve a poor seed, but the NCAA has already displayed a willingness to screw us...

The Committee has started to put an emphasis on strength of schedule and quality wins above all else. That is what surprised me about last year because the Tigers had an overall RPI SOS of #20 and a non-conference RPI SOS of #5 along with 5 top 50 RPI wins and we still got shafted. If we end up this season with a RPI SOS of #80 and one or two top 50 RPI wins we will have real trouble getting better than a 10 seed. That is why it may take winning out to get anything better than an 8.

Here's a gem from Lunardi:
Joe 'My Job is a Fraud' Lunardi Wrote:Memphis Tigers (-32): The Tigers are the "last team in" the new bracket, S curve No. 48, and that's a far cry from preseason rankings that reached into the top 10. Considering the program hasn't won an NCAA tournament game since John Calipari left town, those rankings and expectations were probably unfair. But it is fair to ask what it means for future Faux-Big East membership if Memphis needs to win Conference USA just to reach the NCAAs.

RE: Weekly "let's make comments about Lunardi" thread
The more this season rolls on the more important the Xavier game will be.
I truly think if Memphis loses one CUSA game, they will HAVE to beat Xavier to get an at large (obviously that would mean Memphis loses in the CUSA tourney).
I think IF Memphis goes undefeated in CUSA regular season, they can lose @Xavier and in the CUSA tourney to eek in an at-large.
Obviously, the easiest course of action will be to just win all the games.
