Cal did the same thing...Can't remember the guys name he brought through.

He brought in Jesse Jackson to speak to the team in the locker room prior to the Kansas title game.

We saw the results of his motivational speech.

Even college BB players know a self serving fake when they see one.

Cal really muffed that one

When I see posts like this I think the poster really has a problem with it and is just projecting.
It is actually kind of amazing how many posts we actually see just like this. A lot of projecting happening around here.

I wasn't projecting just poking fun at the ones who gripe about Coach Pastner.

Being a Boston native, his family, friends etc... showed up in full force, but instead of being pumped about the opportunity, he was stressed because he was out of OxyContin. He literally, minutes before the game, stood on the street corner in his Celtics warmup waiting for his dealer.

That was a great 30/30...kid was ballin on oxy. But like any drug it catches up to you. Kid was using smack daily playing overseas. Hope he's past his demons.

Amazing that they only made the NIT, and we had them until that half court 3 they hit to beat us back in one of Tic Price's years. They had Rafer Alston at point, and a couple of other McDAAs that transferred to play for Tark

It was a three from the corner that was clearly released well after the clocked went to 0.00 and the buzzer sounded. It was one of the biggest cases of highway robbery I have ever witnessed in a game. Of course, that was par for the course for Fresno State basketball back in those days.

RE: Chris Herren just talked to the team
Here's a little blurb from the Memphis Flyer about that shot at Fresno State. It's by Dennis Freeland from March 19, 1998:

What Might Have Been

This time last year the U of M was looking for a basketball coach. Former UCLA coach Jim Harrick was looking for work and wanted to come to Memphis, but either his scrape with the NCAA in Los Angeles or his skin color evidently disqualified him here. Harrick landed at Rhode Island and has the Rams in the Sweet 16.

Two candidates who received serious consideration, Colorado’s Ricardo Patton and Tulsa’s Steve Robinson, traveled different paths this year. Patton’s Colorado squad struggled through a losing season, finishing 13-14 (7-9 in a mediocre Big 12). Robinson left Tulsa for Florida State, where he eeked into the Big Dance with a 17-13 record. The Seminoles lost in round two to Valparaiso.

Meanwhile credit Tic Price for taking the Tigers as far as he did. The loss at Fresno State Monday night, in which a shot that clearly came after the final buzzer provided the Bulldogs with their winning margin, was a microcosm of the great job Price did all season.

Fresno State was bigger, deeper, and more athletic than Memphis. Jermaine Ousley’s back was obviously limiting his mobility. Omar Sneed, the Tigers’ go-to player all year was shadowed by a player at least six inches taller. The Fresno crowd of 9,362 was as loud and hostile as any Memphis had seen this year.

And yet, somehow, Price and his team found a way to hang in the game until midway through the second half the Tigers went on an incredible 20-2 run, erasing a nine-point deficit. But the season ended with a bad decision.

“Everyone in this building knew the shot was after the buzzer,” Price said on his post-game radio show. “The officials were not men enough to come back out and make the changes.”

Counting that final shot was one of the great travesties in recent memory, but Tiger fans should not allow that to ruin their memories of this overachieving bunch. Price won’t.

“I’m very fortunate to be these kids’ coach here at the University of Memphis,” Price said. “They’ve given me everything that we could have asked for.”

Amen, coach. amen.
