Yep, my wife and I are actually listed as one of the folks hosting the event. Although she won't be making it since she is out of town on business.

I'm considering going. What all does the event entail? Just a meet and greet?

Event:
6:00-8:30 P.M.
Hors d’oeuvres provided and cash bar available

So it sounds like a meet and greet.

Up close and personal with President Ono. Who is this guy? Where is UC going? How does Dayton figure in? Lots of give and take.

Sounds like Dr. Ono had a great time in Dayton. Looking forward to hearing feedback from those who were in attendance:

Santa J. Ono‏@PrezOno

Well I practically fell in love with Dayton and our UC alums there. Awesome way to launch the #HottestCollegeinAmerica tour. #justsayin

Santa Ono is the shiz.....and so is Whit.

We have two tremendous leaders and they "get it" in terms of understanding how important sports is to a university.

Glad to hear Ono is reaching out the alumni outside the 275 loop. Hope he continues these meet and greets around the state and country.

Thanks for the link! Looks like the Reds are not the only ones with a caravan. UC has one of its own.

RE: Dayton members - Pres Ono Reception
Very nice event held at the Dayton Racquet Club. Dr. Ono, Whit Babcock, Bill Mulvihill (Foundation), Louis Bilionis (Law Dean), James Winkle (Pharmacy Dean), and Myron Hughes (UCAA) were all in attendance. Reportedly it was the largest gathering of UC supporters from the Miami Valley in the last 25 years.

President Ono talked extensively about the academic plan that he co-authored with President Williams. That plan is the framework for everything he does at UC. He spoke highly about the role athletics holds today - how it brings students from separate disciplines together. He mentioned conference realignment as something he is not worried about because UC will always compete at the highest levels. He said that athletic success on the field is a significant factor when students make their college choices.

His love for UC was evident as he once again mentioned his desire to stay for at least 10 years. "UC needs stability in the President's office, and I want to provide this great University that stability." One gentleman even asked Dr. Ono where he could get that great UC tie he was wearing. In true Santa fashion, he immediately took it off and gave it to the guy.

Whit Babcock opened his remarks thanking all the Dayton area fans for fighting traffic and making it consistantly down to Bearcat games. Your welcome. He said that since we always make it to Clifton, he wanted to return the favor and drive to Dayton for a visit. Obviously spoke highly of MC and TT. He also commented that UC was proactively working to be in the best conference situation. Privately, he agreed that the athletics department's marketing initiatives need to grow outside I-275. 04-cheers

I read today on Santa's FB page that 60+ students from Centerville High School alone come to UC each year.

The best for me, however, was the mini-Homecoming that the event created. Guys I had classes with in "Engineering Rehab", guys that I served with on IFC, and several others that I had not seen in many years. It was great to see so many just a few miles away. I've got a few more lunches on my schedule now.

Sorry I didn't catch up with you, namrag. Hopefully, you enjoyed the evening as much me.

Would have loved to been there, maybe not.....would have asked too questions about the conference realignment, the future of the basketball arena, and the law school's future home. All I would have needws was the A&S dean so I could inquire about the future of the political science department and the potential for a new social science building.

Yes sorry that I missed you too ragpicker.
Just a slight correction that doesn't matter to anyone outside of the Pharmacy club: Dr William Fant is the Dean of the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy.
It was a very nice event. I am glad that I attended. President Ono and Whit Babcock are great for UC.

Thanks for the recap. I thought about attending sending there is not a Columbus stop but I had family obligations. I am thinking about heading up to Cleveland in June.
