Defense has really been emphasized more since the crazy 70's era of basketball (ABA), other than the Paul Westhead/Loyola Marymount craziness of the late 80's (averaged over 110 ppg, and 122 ppg one season. NO D.).
I also think there is more emphasis on the player than ever. There are a few coaching kings, but other than that, guys are always on the hot seat it seems and players are more focused than ever on their post-college career. And the talent pool is down, which is crazy to me, because the game is more international than ever. Seems like there should be plenty of talent.

If you score more than the other team, you win. To me, that is offense. Offense is the biggest part of the game. Bad offense, no wins. Just look at NIU.

So what happens if you have no offense or no defense like NIU?
I say drop basketball they are holding us back
Add hockey !! I understand our hockey team scrimmages and plays top teams and is pretty good
