Interesting. Still wonder if we can pick up a few more nBE members.

Bee Cave, TX? What a great name for a city....

So what are you going to run back to the nBE board and tell them that Yoda's reason for living is to bring the nBE down? 'Cause it's not. My goal is to bring down the PAC.

So hypothetical for you... Now that SDSU is back, if Houston were to come too, would SMU change their declination to a "Pick me! Pick me! Pick me!!!"?

What if BYU came too?

Or more to the point, what would it take to get SMU to change their tune?

I'm sure that whoever started this Big XII thread will be very disappointed to see that you are trying to change the subject only two replies in...

Um, I started the thread and was responding to the only person who had responded to it. But thanks for joining in with your valuable content.

RE: Big XII going proactive in expansion???
I can see the desire for teams like mine to want a presence in Texas. It only stands to reason that many of the MWC fans have their own preferences in Tulsa, Houston, SMU, or UTEP in the MWC. Me too, because of the huge Texas markets and recuiting fields if nothing else. Even then, it would be tough to get Hawaii to agree to the inclusions and many of the other MWC schools would be concerned with travel as well. Another concern some have is playing in the other time zones. So I think you can scratch the idea of adding any Big East teams other than Houston or SMU.

I like the idea of adding UTSA. San Antonio is extremely attractive.

Oh god PLEASE not UTSA. I can't stand the idea of adding some crappy FBS start up school. They probably won't be competitive for years (and no, I don't consider beating Idaho and New Mexico State as "competitive") and seeing as we're playing probably are worst schedule in years next year, I'd prefer it doesn't get dragged down with more bottom feeders. UTSA isn't going anywhere, why not get them in a few years if they do actually improve? At this point, the hope has to be that SMU and Houston see the writing on the wall and leave the Big East. If we can't get them, then MAYBE Tulsa and UTEP, although that might just create a few more mouths to feed as well.

RE: Big XII going proactive in expansion???
I would be a huge supporter of UTSA for the following reasons:
1. The #36 ranked media market in the nation
2. Large school with 30,474 students
3. 65,000 seat stadium (Alamodome)
4. Average game attendance: 35,512
5. Roadrunners finished ranked 77th in FB
6. Gives MWC a firm foothold in Texas
7. Boise State could then play in the West Division.

Still, expanding east beyond UTEP would be a problem for Hawaii who might put up a fight over travel costs, but in a divisional setup that might not be a big issue. However, I don't know if the MWC presidents will be willing to expand any further unless it means BYU is in the mix. In that case, UTEP would probably be included as the 14th team.
