The TU announcers said Streeter was calling for it, but the ref was looking somewheres else. Hence, the lick my basketballs comments.

Hard to tell with the choppy feed on my end... oh well, missed opportunity.

That being said, I haven't seen UTEP play that badly in a long, long time.

Don't give up on Southern Miss just yet. We may just challenge them.

Too many 3s.

Once again, squandered possessions came back to bite us.

Good game, Miners - It's going to be tough in El Paso.

As always it really poor layup shooting contributed to this loss. And. How or when is the shot clock violation problem going to be fixed? I have seen so many of those this two years that I'm surprised Floyd hasn't fixed THAT problem. I'm really bummed out tonight. That was one of the worst played game I've seen for the Miners.

wasn't it a rule.. if both teams scored under 50 in your game, you had to officially change the nets to peach baskets?

RE: UTEP 42 @ Tulsa 45 FINAL
I just got back from the game. It was ugly, but mainly because both teams played defense with such high intensity. It was smash-mouth basketball, Don Haskins style. A lot of offensive ineptitude added to the low score as well.

But really, both teams did a great job staying in front of their man. The refs let the game be physical...which was good.

Tulsa won a game I didn't think we would get. No doubt the return trip to El Paso will be tough.

3-1!!!!!

Our team is scrappy as hell.

I wish I got to watch the game but figured Id drive down the street and catch SMU/USM.

I guess King had some big buckets. 4 TOs in the last minute on TU.

Young team but getting better each week.

Danny Manning gets us to 20 wins and he is Coach of Year 100%.

Wasn't able to find the game on the internet or on Dish but from what I am reading on this forum, it was an ugly performance from both teams.

These low scoring games are kind of boring to watch anyway.

RE: UTEP 42 @ Tulsa 45 FINAL
Both teams played excellent defense, which produced the low-scoring game. UTEP's shot selection was affected by that defense, as the Miners settled for far too many outside shots, and they made mistakes down the stretch that scuttled their chances of winning.

I may be in the minority in this NBA/video game age, but I find this kind of game more exciting than a run-and-gun shootout. The tension is so much higher - and the game much more interesting - when points are at such a premium.

If you think that intense defensive basketball games are boring you should just stick to Broadway musicals or the Ice Capades.

It was far from boring. My blood pressure is still up.

Really entertaining defensive intensity.

Against Florida State, I think Manning's first 7 of 9 players were freshmen.

You 're right. I totally understand that defensive games are exciting for some people. What I should have said is that I personally find low scoring defensive games boring.
