Well of course they are. Boise leaving sealed the fate that a coast to coast gang of 5 league is not happening.

so basically, the Big East has allowed TCU , Boise State, and SDSU to claim "Hey, we were undefeated during our time in the Big East" :)

It''s really very simple.

There is NO difference now between the Go5 confrences. We all have the same shot as each other. It seems like things are finally settling around geographic lines instead of TV money.

Thats why I could see UTEP/Tulsa move west and CUSA fill with WKU/stAte. CUSA become more "Eastern" oriented and tighter geographically. With good basketball schools, and footprints in Texas and Florida for FB recuriting and growth.

I guess Houston and SMU are now on an geographic "Island" from other nBE schools, but at least they are together in Texas.

The Big East is becoming the one night stand of college football.

You make a brash decision to go home with her in your drunken stupor. You stay for a little while, mess around with her and even contemplate that she may be worth having around for a longer period of time. Then about 6 am.....you wake up, come to your sobering senses and realized she would let anyone in and proceed to channel your inner Usain Bolt out the door.

Only question is....Aresco is he the carrot or is he the knock-off clutch?

Now if schools just have the courage to say "NO", then once Cincy and UConn are gone the "Blown Up Big East" would be dead. There is not one single argument the BUBE can make that are ligit to have another school pay out 10-12 million dollars to join for the same access to everything.

Houston and SMU are in a good location to be with Tulane and Memphis in the BE. If Tulsa is added then they are that much better off. More so than if they went to the MWC, imho.

I wonder if SDSU backing out will be a catalyst for Navy to back out as well. I don't believe Navy is fully committed to the nBE despite its public statements. And if Navy backs out too, the nBE may stay at 10 all-sports and forget about a football CCG.

This would be the best situation for C-USA, because the membership would be set at 14 with no more losses.

If CUSA wouldn't have backfilled so quickly, saying NO woud have been much easier for teams like Tulsa or Southern Miss (if asked). That way, the nBE could crumble and/or old defectors would return when UCONN and Cincy depart. But ifs and buts...

CUSA has not lost 14 teams in last few years and it is pretty much money in the bank that Cincy and UConn will be gone soon (most likely Navy too)....

Any way you slice it, this isn't over by a long stretch. I still contend the ACC gets raided which will in turn raid remainders in various conferences

...turning to the next page now

before this is all over with, nBE will be charging C-USA teams $10M to stay where pretty much where they are -- plus USF and UConn.

next, the nBE will charge it's members $5M or they will fire bomb their administration building.
