If BYU comes on board then we will invite one more, and probaby either Tulsa or UTEP. I could be wrong, especially if both Houston and SMU both came knocking, but at this point I think the BE has little to fear from a MWC raid. Likely, that future raid on the BE will come from the east when B12 and the ACC expand again.

I think that they have a lot to fear. We should expand into the midwest (adding four from among Houston, Memphis, maybe Cincinnati, SMU, Tulsa & Tulane). It solidifies us in the Central Time Zone and makes it virtually impossible for the nBE to regroup and maybe come after us again -- especially after the ACC raids them.

We plant our flag in some nice markets. We get more games, diminishing the influence of the CBS contract and allowing us all more opportunity to play "bonus money" national television games. And we get those games in a new time zone -- allowing for doubling up of broadcasts on Saturdays. I'm fairly certain that we get more per school income by expanding then we do by staying at 12.

Yoda out...

,

Yeah, I'd have to agree with Yoda here. After this year it's all a battle for one slot. The "playoffs" will be a long shot at best. So go for the jugular now and make the MWC the strongest of the left behinds.

It doesn't hurt to pitch Cinci. But give BYU one more chance, and go after a few Texas schools. If any pass, go for Tulsa.

One option for a BYU deal:

BYU agrees to rejoin the MWC.
BYU keeps it's ESPN contract for home games until it expires (no extensions allowed).
BYU pays the "bonus" fee (as per MWC agreement) for their MWC home games to visiting MWC schools.
BYU away games under MWC contract
BYU subject to MWC agreement regarding CCG/bowl/playoff revenue
BYU agrees to be part of renegotiated MWC media contract upon expiration of their ESPN contract and other media contracts going forward
BYU would receive reduced amount of MWC revenue (regular season away games) for duration of ESPN contract
BYU would pay a penalty if they leave the conference for another during their ESPN contract. Penalty would equal one year's revenue of payments they would have made to other MWC schools for their home game appearances.

Don't think I'm missing anything. But that's not too bad, is it?
If BYU joins i see this being close to what the agreement would be.
