The football championship? No. Home stadiums.
Basketball? No. Bid it out every year.

I think the best record in football should host. I think that will generate the best attendance considering the footprint of the league.

Basketball can be bidded out. UTEP did a good job. With 2 schools coming in from Florida you could argue looking at a NBA arena there for it (assume Miami Heat). Charlotte Bobcats NBA arena could do hosting duties--Not sure how that would play if the ACC was holding the tourney in Greensboro around the same time frame.

I used to be I the nuetral site bandwagon but after seeing other conf's do it and swing the attendance it makes me think that the our current setup is fine. I once posted a thread calling it bush league if we didn't have a nuetral site game & I got hammered. I'm going to find that tread now...

All for home sites:

(1) Because for one, it makes more financial sense.
(2) I feel like neutral site games in college sports almost cheapens it and makes it feel less authentic. A large part of college sports are the home atmospheres.

I wish the MAC could have a home site for their championships like a decade ago, attendance in Detroit has been scant at best - it's only done because of our late fall weather and the fact that Detroit isn't that far for most MAC schools. But as the C-USA goes, even if you place it in a neutral location, your future footprint that stretches from Norfolk to El Paso is begging for disaster if you put it in a geographically center place like Memphis. The ACC and Big Ten hardly drew much support this year (granted it was altered because of sanctions), the SEC and old Big 12 are the only places where it works/worked consistently. Just my two cents from a neutral perspective.

Just look at the MAC and ACC. As others have pointed out, there are a lot of empty seats and it's not cause everyone is on their feet. Plus you should reward the team with the best record with the home game. Just hope you guys have fun when y'all come to Ruston for the championship this year 02-13-banana

Miami poster speaketh the truth.

Neutral site won't work. We discussed it ad naseum in 2004, and little has changed.

Division winner with best conference record hosts. Just makes no sense to do anything other than that.

Are you on crack?

Tulsa hosted the Conf Champ Game this year on a 72 degree day and drew an announced crowd of 17,635.

Now imagine if that game was played in Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta, Mobile, Birmingham, Nashville, Charlotte, etc....

How many "hundreds" would have turned out to see Tulsa play UCF at a neutral site?

There's your answer.

I prefer the team with the best record hosting, based on a lot of reasons listed previously. Plus, I think playing for an extra home game adds a little something extra to the regular season.
