Any renovations or upgrades in the works for the Dome? I've never been but I've heard it's starting to show a little age. With ACC membership and the uptick in on-field success, is anything on the horizon?

Made a few major upgrades this past season - new video board, ribbon scoreboards around the edge of the upper deck. Not certain there are any immediate major plans. I view the major problem with the dome to be that it is largely a concrete shell with mostly bench seating. Its design also makes the addition of further premium seating a challenge.

The Dome improved greatly this summer with the LED ribbon and video boards. Next item is to get the casual fan back...our attendance is off 10-15k from its' peak.

I would rip out the aluminum bench seating between the 20's on the 1st level and add individual seats w/backs. Capacity would go down a tad but they could probably make up it somewhat with higher tix prices. Next I would paint all the benches Orange throughout the Dome.

The Dome structurally is fine. It sits on very valuable land and I can see it being torn down in the future. SU/local gov't is working on a replacement to the Dome but not sure how hard. A 48-55k seat retractable roof Dome would be awesome with attached retail, hotel and residential projects.

Really? Replacing it could be cool. I know first hand it's hard to let a legendary arena go (Freedom Hall) but as goofy as it sounds the Yum! Center has really been the best thing that's happened for our program. I think Syracuse could reach even greater heights (is that possible? lol) with an NBA esq arena. Can you imagine UNLV's arena at The Dome's site?

We don't have LV money...it will be a budget Dome to some degree...still years away...but there has been discussions by SU and private developers. SU I think would want one general all purpose facility for both sports and Lax/softball.

If you get rid of the Dome and replace it with an NBA style arena, construction will take years (It took from November 1978 to July 1980 to demolish Archbold Stadium and build the Dome in the first place).

Where does the basketball team play for 2 seasons?

I think that when Syracuse needs a new stadium, they should build another dome. Part of me wishes Pitt did this on the site of the Petersen Center.

Only building available is the OnCenter and that can't be an option. For basketball it seats only 20-25% of the capacity of the dome.

We'd have to build a new arena first, which means building on a different site.

There's plenty of land available at South Campus with room for parking and decent highway access.

20-30 years from now I can see a brand new roofed stadium being constructed at Skytop, with Drumlins West Golf Course becoming a parking lot. The Dome would then be demolished and the land used for classrooms / dorms.

They should definetly do another dome if that happens. Heck, a dome is even on some of your logos isn't it? Kind of synonmous with 'Cuse IMO.

first on the agenda is getting a state of the art practice facility done.Id expect the current dome to stay for at least 5-10 more yrs with some minor tweaks

Yeah, I've seen houses and barns collasped from the snow on Rt26 from Rome to Loweville take 4-5 years to tear down. 04-chairshot
