Yep, if losing to Louisville makes us a top 25 team, how does barely beating UTk (after Louisville) play into it? Guess that makes us a top 100 team.
We beat Louisville and we were competitive against Minnesota. We were bad against VCU but won all our other games. Without going back and looking, I remember that we actually had some of our own supposed moron fans saying that the refs had nothing to do with the outcome. Can you imagine our own supposed fans thinking that?
Any other bright ideas?

Louisville is not number 1. Duke with Ryan Kelly or Indiana is number 1. With Michigan and Kansas right there.

i think if we play minnesota again we take them. probably quite easily. Remember, that was the game pastner buried joe on the bench while hollins lit us up. Joe played 7 minutes, cc played 25 and was 2-8 from the field and it was geron's first game.
wow, retrospectively, terrible coaching move by josh. just turrible. at least bring joe back in and give him a chance, none of the other guards played well

9 turnovers in 27 minutes. Pastner never gave him a chance. The move turned around JJ and the team's season; it was a necessary move.

All we have are both Pastner and Joe saying that he is more focused, working much harder and not listening to outside influences. Aside from that, there is no way to tell if it made a difference. If you wanted to look at it from the point of view of performance, you would have to base it on Joe playing horribly and having a terrible attitude for 2 games to having a great attitude and playing great in every game (with maybe one exception) since then.
Other than that, there is no reason to believe that it made a difference at all.

Nope. Our only loss was to then #4 Duke by 4 points without our starting Center back in November. IU lost to unranked Butler (at the time) and Duke lost to #20 NC State. They had their chances but lost.

How well did he play before the 1 bad game and the non game.

IU's loss is worse than UL's. At this point UL is rightfully the #1 team.

Hmmm, I would argue that playing bums has "turned around" the season. Incredible, beat bums and Stammers thinks we'd beat the Grizzlies if we played them today.
Stammers is right, forget the 0-11 against Top 25 teams. If we played them again and no one was watching, we'd be 11-0 and #1 in the country.

Andy Katz just said on ESPN that Memphis will get a one seed in the NCAA Tournament since they were "robbed" by the officials against L'ville and L'ville is now the #1 team in the country. Since Duke beat L'ville, Duke is being promoted to the NBA. Also, Kentucky is getting a #1 seed because they played L'ville close.

RE: If Louisville is number 1 ....
In all seriousness, this entire thread is ridiculous. Do I think Memphis has improved in the last four or five game stretch? Yes. But it's hard to tell by how much because they are playing bums. I'd rather have them beat the bums than lose to the bums. And that's the best they can do at this point: beat who's in front of them.
But I'm not going to tout them to non-Tiger fans or get overly excited until they actually win an NCAA tournament game or beat a Top 25 team. It's simple: do that, and I'll get excited. Until then, they are what they are. They made their own bed.

RE: If Louisville is number 1 ....
Memphis' signature win as it stands today is Tennessee. Tennessee. Let that sink in, boys and girls. Tennessee is 8-7. It's conceivable that Tennessee finishes the season with a losing record and does not even get invited to the NIT. It's nice to beat Tennessee, but that is not a signature win. Fact is, we won't have a signature win to hang our hat on. We'll just have to win as many games as possible and talk up our gaudy record.

Yep it's hard to gage improvement when your playing patsies. I'm the same way, when they win against a top 25 team which now will have to be in the NCAA tourney, I'll get more excited..If we slip up at all we will not even get in without winning the conference tourney..No doubt this team has the talent but whether they do anything with it remains to be seen..

You must be an Ole Miss fan. Seriously. You can't be a Tiger fan. You are so predictable.

I love the "What? You don't think the Tigers are #1? You're not a Tiger fan!" argument.

Actually we spotted you 16 pts. and still won by 9. The fact of the matter is your team is SOFT, and poorly coached. You guys play the "if" game as good as KY fans. You got jobbed alright, by the best backcourt in the country.

I look at the volume of work(or posts in this case). Never said anything about us being ranked. It's just the pattern of this guy's posts. He wants Josh gone. Every post has that slant. He's entitled to his opinion, but it shows up in every single ******* thread. Sick of it.
