I know this is off topic, but I had to share this. UNLV Stadium Plans


"UNLV's stadium proposal includes a 100-yard long video screen and could run a rumored $800 million, according to a report in the Las Vegas Sun. UNLV's stadium won't have any history when it's built, like some of the other famous stadiums in college football, but it'll be hard to match the glitz of it. It will be a stadium fitting of Las Vegas."

If they are going to spend almost a billion dollars on this stadium I have to believe the Pac 12 has assured them of an invite.

I bet the city/county/state will have to kick in a big chunk of this. I could see this being used for big concerts/events in addition to just serving as the home of UNLV athletics. You don't build a venue like that just for UNLV to play their games. I could see bowl games, final fours, concerts, etc.

PAC 12 is in a tough spot, they really want Texas and to a degree Oklahoma but not their tag along's Tech and State. I could see schools like UNLV, New Mexico, SDSU, even Boise State or Houston on their radar for future expansion (talking within 5 years).

This would be huge for UNLV and Vegas. Current stadium is out in the middle of nowhere, 15-20 miles away from Campus
and the casinos. Football and basketball would play there. This is a multi purpose facility, soccer, boxing, bowl games,
MWC games, UFC, etc. Obviously UNLV attendance is going to be much better.

Even as a Bengal fan, I often day dream about this being the catalyst that propels the Bearcat football program to national prominence and a SEC invite.

And then the Bearcats begin to challenge Ohio St. as the premier program in Ohio.

I do the same, just without being a Bengals fans

They would have to have an event there every night to pay off the interest expense alone on a project of that cost.
