RE: BREAKING NEWS: WJHL Reports Dave Mullins to be replaced as AD.
Well.............
A hearty thanks to ALL of us who have persevered for SOOO long on this sad journey. So many of us have worked so hard, and been relentless in the pursuit of the right and proper alignment of things. It's terribly heartbreaking that humans seem to be programmed(??) to not react until things get too far gone - but such is the case at ETSU - as in so many situations we encounter along life's road(s).
I'm not planning on being a presence here going forward - although I reserve that option, of course. This is now past the "ending of the ending", and into the "beginning of the new beginning" (or maybe actually part 2 of the "beginning of the new beginning", with the hiring of Noland being part 1). The stain of what stanton and mullins have wrought will last in infamy far, far into the future, unfortunately. But..........we'll see what can be built. It's a very long road ahead, with many obstacles, many of which will be financial. But enough people have done what they could, and ultimately the flicker of flames could not be fully extinguished by those named above.
I'll link this past week's deal closings with Saturday's basketball game....
As you all know, I've been going to ETSU games since the '50s, and *rarely* have I witnessed a 'revival' like I did Saturday afternoon. No, 15 minutes does not in and of itself a turnaround make. We'll see how all *that* pans out down the road. But clearly, a renewed sense of hope seemed to be alive in the air, and one could possibly detect a pulse in a new phoenix. I'm not trying to say it's a perfect analogy, as it's obviously not, but the linkage of the two hopeful events in the same week is hard to ignore. In fact, Noland's broader-than-it-should-be smile during and after Saturday's game belied what many of us knew was coming. A curious juxtaposition of concomitant events, or a true heralding of a fresh infectious outlook? Well, certainly the former, and time will tell about the latter - but clearly this is an inflection point - and one that should be treasured. However, there will undoubtedly be much to overcome. The work of the committed is never done........
Again, thanks to all who have been part of this almost-10-year retreat into the "dark ages", forever enduring, and yet never accepting the death sentence. We all must continue to be vigilant to expose the lies of any who seek to shield, obfuscate, or twist truth, as has been done for so long with the recently-departing "regime" (and that's *not* too strong a word, with the negative connotation implied).
Hallelujah!!
-- and a good "Howdy!" to MamaBear!!
