That's well over a 12-foot dunking height.

Michael Wilson was famous for those as Globetrotter.

I've been taking my 16yo son to Tiger games since before he could walk.. DJ is without question his all-time favorite Tiger.

The guy has remarkable jumping capabilities due to fast twitch muscle fibers. If he starts gaining weight his jumping speed could diminish a bit as well as his knees might begin to give him trouble. He does not necessarily need a big body to play at the next level. It is all about heart, and his heart is huge.

His knees already give him trouble. He could gain 10-15lbs without a negative effect on leaping, provided the gain was muscle. Would likely help the knees a bit and the connective tissue would develop as well. DJ is already much thicker than his freshman year, though.

He main focus should be on ball handling, shooting and quickness...He is big enough to play the 3 in the NBA...Just doesn't have to tools to do it yet.

Thats the one! Not humanly possible.

Look at his knees relative to the refs eyes. Thats sick.

I remember saying about this pic that it looks like DJ is just standing in mid-air. If that was me a) there would be a trampoline under me and b) my face would be contorted and my feet would be pointed and who knows what else.

Does anyone know what game is going to be senior night this year? Funds are tight but want to make sure to make it down to celebrate DJ's moment. He is a really special player - he tries hard every second he is in the game and pushes others to do well.

Thanks for any help on this!

I don't mean to rain on DJ at all, but you're letting the camera angle and the ref's position closer to the camera distort your perception.

Look at DJ's feet relative to the knees of the players behind him. DJ was likely standing right on the sideline when he jumped, so he is 18" or so closer to the camera than the players' knees. This distorts the perception in the opposite direction. He looks like he's just over knee high, but he's probably 6 or so inches higher than the tops of their knees.

It's always the last home game of the season. The date is etched in my mind and I dread it like no other. March 9, 11am vs. UAB. We will have gone 2 full weeks with no home games at that point. I will need sedation to make it through the morning. I can't put into words how sad I'm gonna be. Loving that kid for 4 years, taking hundreds of photos of him, bowling with him, celebrating with him, traveling with him, acting crazy with him, endless texts with him, supporting him through thick and thin, seeing him fall in love and start a family....watching him mature as a young man and as a basketball player....whew !

Look at DJ in the background compared to the people beside him.

Thanks, Miss J!

Gah! I should have known it was the last home game of the year. He really is a treat to watch. Also, I mostly lurk this site for tiger news - so I don't comment all too much - but I will say that I love your positive energy and commitment to the school/our team. I love how selfless you are with your pictures and really enjoy looking through your shots of Tigers' games when I can't be there. Wishing you all the best seeing your "son" growing up and leaving the nest (or Tiger den).

Thanks!

I'm convinced. If he stays healthy, he's a lock for a 2nd round draft pick.

Prediction -- On Senior Night, DJ is going to get one of the loudest and most extended standing ovations we've ever seen. Ever. There is literally nothing about this kid that I don't like. And to think that Josh took a flyer on him because he was desperate for anyone to fill out the roster that season.
