I'm not used to Torii Hunter yet. Whenever the announcers say "Hunter", I have "Brian L Hunter" flashbacks.

RE: Tigers thread...2013 edition
ESPN.com is reporting that the Rangers are asking about Porcello.

I don't think Texas has anything in their bullpen that can help us.

Feliz is a stud but is out with Tommy John surgery until the All Star break.

Nathan is their closer. They just signed Soria to be their setup man.

I would love to get Ogando and make him our closer. But I believe they are transitioning him to their rotation.

Anyone else they offer would be a prospect and I really believe we can do better if Porcello continues to pitch well.

Apparently someone is floating the idea of Porcello being a closer.

(probably the worst idea I've heard yet)

RE: Tigers thread...2013 edition
Yeah, I dont like that idea at all.

I find it very interesting how well both Porcello and Smyly are pitching in Spring Training. They are both on a mission to make this team.

Wasnt there talk at one point about possibly getting Elvis Andrus? Would it be possible that the Rangers would part with Andrus for Porcello and Peralta? I think I would strongly consider doing that. He is a young stud SS. Maybe there would be a bullpen piece that could be thrown into that deal.

I have wondered all off season what the value is that we could get back for Porcello. I see a solid young starting pitcher as someone that could bring back quite a bit in return. And hearing some of the rumors of what they might get makes me think they should just hold onto him.

RE: Tigers thread...2013 edition
I don't think the Rangers would part with Andrus unless they had a stud prospect who is big league ready. Andrus is pretty good. It would also take more than Porcello to get him. Garcia, Rondon, or Castellenos would have to be included.

I'm only down with trading Porcello IF they get a legit closer in return. We have him under control for 3 more years...and it's a safe bet that one of our starters gets injured at some point in time.

The rangers have the best ss prospect in the majors. He might even be rated the best prospect period. With that said, andrus is one of the best ss in the game.

Peralta is a free agent after this season.

We will need someone in 2014.

Wow. I just looked him up. He's no only the best SS prospect in all of MLB...he's also the top rated prospect at all positions.

Jurickson Profar from the Dominican Republic.

I only know that because I remember him playing for Curasao in the Little League World Series a few years back. He dominates the tournament.

Brennan Boesch released.

My favorite Boesch memory was him absolutely smoking the ball in his first few at bats in the majors. I also remember him hitting a home run in the rain late in the game against someone else.

I always hoped Boesch was going to be the real deal, had a pretty swing when he was in the zone. But it appears he's much more of Chris Shelton.
