UAB and Memphis basketball have been very successful. What makes college basketball is the rivalries, and the chance to participate in it is very special for me."

Yeah, thanks to ESPiN and Dukie V

Both sides were wrong.

And there you are making something else up. No one was put in cuffs and restrained.
Doesn't look like 20 to 30 to me...
No one restrained, huh? Try 1:05....

You can't tell anything from that video. Except that while Jumpsuit guy was held back, he wasn't handcuffed as you said.

We were both right and both wrong then. He wasn't handcuffed but he WAS restrained. Heh, if he were going after Niles security probably saved him from having a REALLY bad night.

And the students, some of them football players stormed the court mistakenly, and stupidly thinking UAB had won the game. They did not go on the court to go after any Memphis players. They were met by Tiger players popping their jerseys who approached the students in a threatening manner. Unlike many of the Tiger posters who perpetuate these falsehoods, I was there and saw what happened.

you should be in politics with spin like that...

I don't really believe there's much wiggle room. UAB wants home and homes, Memphis doesn't.

All I'm say is that the tie with Coach Bartow should be enough to warrant an attempt to see if there is a possibility of working out some type of revolving relationship. Home and home would be 1 OOC road game every 2 years.

I'd be disappointed if we are too busy, in need of money, etc to at least attempt to see if there is something available.

I agree OT. I think us older folks respect the history and meaning of this series more than these young bucks. Again, greed has taken over just about all aspects of amature sports and it sickens me. Here's hoping for a competive game and may the best team win... Coach Bartow would have wanted that way.

I don't think Pastner has a poor record but you can bet that Memphis area recruits will be reminded by big time opposing coaches that NCAA record to all. You are the joke if you think it won't be mentioned. I do think it is a poor record in NCAA games. Anybody else agree with me?

While the initial part of your post referenced ncaa games, the last didn't. If your comment had said Pastner's "poor record in ncaa tournament games", I would have never responded....he's not won one yet. I've been around here enough to most to know that I wouldn't have responded to a correct comment. I don't go looking for fights where they don't exist, or even looking for fights at all.

There was a reason for my response.

Coach Bartow was a special guy that loved his experience in coaching both programs. They were his professional legacy, even though he spent a lot longer time at UAB. It would be a good tribute to him and what he did for both programs to continue investigate possible ways to extend the series.

Additionally, despite what some say about this not being a rivalry, just look at the number of posts in this thread 4 hours before the ball is even tipped off.

RE: Memphis @ UAB
UAB has not won a game in the series for a little while, giving the impression to some that it isn't much of a rivalry. But given the shared history between the schools, the fact that UAB and Memphis are the 2 winningest programs in CUSA history, and the fact that a large number of the games are nail-biters would tell a different story. And for anyone who has been in attendance for these UAB-Memphis games, the passion in this game is tangible.

Blazer85, I agree that the games in Bartow have been close. But there's no question the return game in Memphis usually has been no more than just another conference game. Most rivalry games generate the same type of demand/interest in both locations. Not the case with UAB.

Yes, he's been to the NCAA twice and hasn't won yet. Poor but not unexpected. Considering his incoming class, it hasn't seemed to hurt, yet.

People just don't get that excited about playing the Blazers in Memphis. Tennessee, Louisville, Gonzaga, and Xavier are just bigger names.

Did Memphis fans really "expect" to lose?
You guys have a funny way of spinning things.
I had Memphis advancing on my bracket.
I think y'all are pretty good.
If you make it this yr I think you have the talent to win the whole thing.

Sorry. Referencing the last couple years NCAA Championships.
I am sure they did not expect to lose last night.
