What we're up against
Sometimes it's very frustrating to write about sports in Oklahoma. Even the slightest mention of the MAC gets scoffed at. See the response to my column:

http://enidnews.com/sportslocal/x9648700...Herbstreit

The column didn't even really center on the MAC ... I responded, but if anybody is so inclined to answer also on the newspaper's website, the back-up would be nice. Sometimes being the lone voice in the wilderness gets tiresome.

Nice article. The more sports writers/radio hosts that call out Kirk Herpestreet, the better.

I like your factoid at the end of the column, too:

EMU > WMU > UConn > Syracuse > Louisville > Florida > Texas A&M > Alabama

RE: What we're up against
Dear Dave,
I answered on your column site that you posted above. Ever since the late sixties when the big name colleges realized that if they marketed their teams, with mail drives and advertising in the paper media, radio, and television, that they could increase attendance and make a ton of money, they went after it.
Most people in the stadium in Ann Arbor never attended U - M. That's why they are referred to as 'Walmarters'. They buy all their gear from Walmart or wherever, and go crazy over the games, but have no idea what the school is about, or why they are there. It's winning football, and that's all they care about.

We need an apprentice of yours to write similar columns in Cleveland's plain dealer...

Of course, EMU fans are proud of 'what might have been' a win over mighty Alabama. 03-lmfao

On the flip side, Rob Murphy do NOT schedule Calvin which according to the same logic of team A beat team B which beat team C, etc.is better than MSU.

Stay with Sienna Heights who hasn't beaten anyone who has beaten anyone...
