If they are there, I'll be happy. If they aren't, I'll still be OK, just not as happy.

I'll be really surprised if San Diego says. Unless there's something we don't know - can't see how it makes sense for them at this point.

I actually hope San Diego goes to the MWC. It helps regionalize the conference and finally ends all of that western division crap.

I'm sure it'll be something like, "Aresco remains optimistic, blah, blah, blah."

Contrary to our enemies' wishes, the Big East will still enjoy higher revenue and better TV exposure and bowl access than any other conference below the top 5. TCU succeeded with far less than what UofM is about to have.

Our short term goal should be to surpass Boise State, Cincinnati, UCF and everbody else in the "Group of Five" as the best football program not in the SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big XII or Pac 12.

If we can accomplish that then we won't be in the Big East for long.

This was on the BE board about an hour ago…

Quote:UT-San Diego's Stefanie Loh is saying that SDSU's Rocky Long told her it's about "50/50" whether SDSU goes back to the MWC or stays with the Big East, and a decision will be made in a week . . .

Hmmm, I thought SDSU was to give their decision THIS week, today? I thought this was one reason for meeting today.

I’m lost now and it appears I’m not alone. And my head hurts too.

Just spoke to Tom Bowen, who attended today's Big East meeting in Dallas. "Very positive and very encouraging," he said. Short story coming.

Funny.

The CUSA office and the Big XII office are located less than two miles from one another. I've been in one on business.

Didn't BB come from the Big XII? Since there'll be no Dallas area schools in the new C-USA, will he relocate league offices again?

I haven't thought about it. Before TCU joined there weren't any Big XII schools in the immediate Dallas/Ft Worth metro area.

It's all about airports

Big East had 'productive' meeting "We can't comment specifically about some of our challenges, this confirmed our common vision for future"

Bowen referred questions about specifics, such as the league's stance on departure dates for soon-to-leave members, to a Big East spokesman, who did not immediately return an email Friday. But Bowen said that San Diego State, which reportedly is mulling over an offer to join the Mountain West Conference, was in attendance "and they fully participated" in the meeting.

They are just there to spy for the MWC. Just like when X 'deliberated' over the KY job for a couple of days so that he could still talk to Memphis recruits......

Hmmm, "productive" and "challenges" sound like commissioner talk for not-so-good.

I wouldn't say not so good, just nothing new. And I think we also all know what "our common vision for the future" means -- we all want an offer from a better conference; some of us will make it, some of us won't; may the best man win.

North Texas (in Denton) is in CUSA now.

I understand the idea of "regionalize" - its the old model (& I love the old model) by which conferences were historically formed. But in this day when it takes $$ like never before to compete, to "regionalize" is likely to drastically reduce revenues. Maximizing revenues is the top priority, and has to be in order for us to compete and improve our standing among the have-nots. It's about survival and progressing against our peers, not insuring we play teams close to home. To the extent both can be accomplished great but you can't ignore the importance of revenue growth - and it will help BB too, not just FB in the long run.
