Numerous times he would have wide open three point shots that the defense was daring him to take, and he would pass. He canned two with a hand in his face at UT, he's got to take the wide open shots if they are given to him. I love his defense, I'm just ready for him to be more consistent on offense.

I agree. I was surprised to see him pass a couple of them up. There were at least two occasions that he had nobody near him and hesitated and then never shot. Hopefully, with time in the system he will start taking those shots and not worry about missing.

Really, IMO this holds true to almost the entire team in the second half. They all seemed to start questioning themselves in the second half of the game last night. When this team gets apprehensive on offense, the entire offensive system shuts down and they have a really hard time getting it going again.

It’s called TEAM ball.

ECU went to zone betting we would start jacking up quick 3’s. Geron was poised enough not to bite as did the entire team. An open 3 early in the shot clock isn’t a good shot unless you make it.

Geron didn’t have a great game but he did his part to help the team win. To criticize him for staying within the concept of team ball is absurd.

Agreed...A 3 early in the shot clock is a bad decision PERIOD. If it goes in cool, but you probably should have taken it. He took a couple of long shots like he did against UT yesterday and missed also turned the ball over a few times.

But one thing I HATE about the way Paster subs is he doesn't show confidence in his players. He is so focused on what have you done for me TODAY. If you have confidence that Geron is your guy you don't sit him the last 10 minutes of the game. You have to believe that he will get it together. But if you play like crap early and someone else is doing OK you may not get back in.

First off I did not "criticize" Geron. How is saying I am surprised that he passed up open threes and would like to see him take those shots criticizing a player?

Shooting a wide open three at any point in the shot clock is good for an up tempo team or any team for that matter. The point of "TEAM ball" is to get the easiest shot possible on each possession. Well, a wide open shot from your starting shooting guard who is a decent three point shooter is a good shot! If he had come out and missed two or three of those then at that point I would agree he should pass it up. He was apprehensive last night for one reason or another. That is a fact. If he is going pass up open threes then I would like to see him take advantage of the huge opening and take it to the rim. I am big Geron fan and I happen to think he is a key part of the offense. When he is aggressive I think it helps open the court up for everyone else, especially JJ. He had an off night for whatever reason, and it could have been related to anything. I am not worried about him because I know he will bounce back, he just has that type of mentality. You just need to relax a little...

Sorry, I was a bit overboard with implying you criticized Geron.

ECU lives & dies by the 3. We don’t. When ECU got down they changed their strategy and went to zone to dare us to shoot the 3. They even decided to not even guard the 3. See, they knew we are not a good 3 point shooting team and knew Adonis & Chris are in a shooting slump.

ECU made an attempt to win by making US change our style and get into a 3 point shootout with them. This is what they do and Josh knew it as did our players.

We didn’t bite, continued to play OUR style and won. This is a sign of a mature team with confidence in their game plan.

I agree, I think he is a team player and very coachable. These things will ultimately help his career. Kid has "it", those 3s at UTK were stone cold daggers to the heart of Knox Villains everywhere.
