Charlotte was an excellent team when they first played in Cusa from 96-05, but they haven't been to the tourney since 2005.
Memphis has gone eight of the past 10 years. If anything, Charlotte was far more the equivalent of Memphis back then than they are today.
I would be delighted for Memphis to go to the ACC, but I think that's unlikely in the foreseeable future.
I look at a more macro view than johnny come lately...anyway, I still think that MEM and UH have the most potential to make it to the big 5 in the next two years if they can regain something of recognizable status in football....the markets are too large to ignore (even if UH is a commuter night school)
Tulsa will leave, it just hasn't been determined yet....my guess is they are waiting for the next round of defections to play their best hand....JMO
For one, I am actually okay with all new CUSA adds...is it where we started...NO....is it what it was recently...NO....is it what I wanted for us....NO....but, does it have upside....YES, as it did when we were Metro to then CUSA....Darwinism in college athletics
Crap, it was only about 25 years ago when we only had 3-4 home games because we were an independent

That's funny considering that we have more dorms and students staying on campus than you guys in Hattiesburg. Plus another dorm and apartment being opened this fall. If we're a "commuter night school" but our academic standards are higher than Directional Mississippi U and our endowment dwarfs yours. Then I wonder what that makes you guys?
Being public commuter schools certainly hasn't hurt Louisville or Cincinnati.
I think it did hurt them for many years, but schools like that are more in vogue now (for sports). Whether this is a long-term trend remains to be seen... it does go against what college sports were originally built on.
And CougarPaws: don't you think you're being a little touchy there? UH is traditionally a commuter school. Even if you build dorms, won't they be more like subsidized apartments near campus?

amazingly whiffed the point of the post...wasn't hating on UH....was only pointing out how perception dictates results....however, spin it how you want...your response would be classified as ironic, while mine was an attempt at objectivity...something that is a lost art form...especially on this board
