Doubtful. We had statistically the worst defense in the country last year. Hopefully that changes this year.

You gave up more points (43 to 39 pts a game)
We gave up more yards (526 to 457 yds a game)

If this doesn't change, the Tech/Marshall score next year may be about 83-80.

At least your defense AND offense didn't both rank in the 100's

Last off season Legg attended a seminar at Oregon hosted by Chip Kelly, which radically changed his play calling, most notably in the speed of the offense.

The change in number of plays that the offense could get off is what really allowed the offense to take off, it also didn't hurt that Cato AND Shuler took a huge step forward.

Petersen was a good QB coach, but don't praise him and bash Legg for Legg's new offensive strategy.

Peterson was the QB coach and the Cato is the QB. You're right Cato made a huge step forward. I just believe Peterson had a lot more to do with that than Legg. Last year Legg hamstrung Cato. This year Cato changed nearly every play at the line and good things happened. I will give Legg credit for getting out of Cato's way this year.

Legg didn't hamstring Cato last year, Cato's inexperience hamstrung him last year.
