That RPI assumes we will have a regular season record of 23-8, including a conference record of 12-4. I guess that website also assumes we will lose to either Harvard or Xavier. This team is not going to lose 5 more games this year.

Yep. According to the same website, if we lose 4 more games before Selection Sunday we will have an RPI of 25. That's an invite.

I agree, but we should be prepared for a poor seed because based on last year a high RPI does not correlate with a lower number seed.

I doubt its as low as #8 this year.

I don't see multiple conferences losses or 8 total losses on selection sunday. Probably close to half that.

I think we will be closer to a 5-7 seed.

Never underestimate the capricious and arbitrary nature of the selection process.

RE: First official RPI (NCAA)
We need to be ranked at least in the top 32 by seasons end and winning the C-USA tournament giving us at least a #8 seed. Of course it would be preferable to have a higher ranking. Achieving a top 25 ranking would give the Tigers a much better overall chance. Top 32 would average out to a #8 seed if the selection committee goes by the numbers. A #8 seed (Villanova 1985) is the lowest seed to win the NCAA. A #5 to #7 seed position gives much greater odds for advancement. Not necessarily to win the title but to advance past the second round. And it seems the 5 or 6 seed is more preferred. Win out the rest of the season and we could be one of the more dangerous teams and still under the radar.

I, for one, am a little worried about the C-USA tournament. C-USA is AWFUL, but we won't be at FedEx Forum, and teams will be hungry for an NCAA bid. We have to show up. If we lose in say, the championship game, I don't think there would be any doubt we'd get in, but it could dramatically hurt our seed. Gotta win in Tulsa.

The tourney worries me less than anything.

The team will come focused and ready for that. Its these february conf road games that worry me more. We're not gonna be up for every game and we are gonna catch a crappy team on a good night. Plus UTEP seems to give us fits when we are not focused.

Xavier and the conf tourney though, we'll be up for those.
