Alabama 309 yards in the first half.

RE: Championship game
When the season started, ND's schedule was the toughest. I wish we could have played better. A 7 point or less loss and I would've felt better about our showing. The media also would be comparing our loss to others and saying that we did belong!

RE: Championship game
ND's schedule definitely looked better in the beginning of the year than it did in the end. That is the thing though, if you have a perceived good schedule in the beginning it really doesnt drag you down any. It is almost as if you get the credit for beating the perceived goodness of the team going into the game. Boise St is a good example, Michigan St was supposed to be great going into the year, but turned out to be one of the poorer teams in the Big 10. Boise St. really was not punished for that loss as they should have been and would have been had the game been in week 10

He only reserves that for NIU. Has nothing to do with score or team performance.

Imagine if Alabama wins by 6 T.D.'s and plays the water-boy as well.
Herbstreit would still have nothing to say.
His Oklahoma darling got blown out by Texas A&M completely.
Would have probably been blown out by FSU.

NIU at-least kept it close till the 4th quarter.

I really didn't care who won one way or the other, but now, it's just gotta be a complete Bama blowout beat down.

NIU will still get ranked in the top 25.
At-least three blow-outs greater then NIU's 4th quarter flop against Florida.
THIS game is all over. ND does not have the offense to come back even against Alabama's second team.

A Bama blowout helps NIU.

Bama RB is bigger and faster than the ND LBs, makes Te'o look like a Sun Belt player

NIU is fine at offensive line, especially given how young they were this year.

thats a great point. As an NIU homer obviously I kept saying Lynch was better that Johnny Football, but after both bowl games I dont think its even close right now. However, I think Lynch is gonna come back w a vengeance for next season. His bowl performance is gonna fuel him all offseason

RE: Championship game
NDs and Bama's schedule comparison has been discussed over and over again since the matchup was official. Overall, week by week, ND has had the tougher schedule. They didn't have FAU, WKU or West Carolina on their schedule like Bama did. But obviously, Bama trekking through the SEC easily trumps ND beating OU, Stanford and the weak ass Big Ten and USC teams. So yes, ND had a tougher opponents week in and week out, but they didn't have the SEC to deal with.

Not sure which poll they were discussing on Sirius radio I was listening to, but it had Irish #1 and Bama #2 on the SoS. Here's a Pat Forde article discussing it too. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--sec-...=3#more-id (Title of this article is now very hilarious to see)

And I hate all of you for wasting five minutes of my life to prove my point. Damn you all!!

A&M is gonna be tough next year. Two losses this year by one possession against LSU and Florida. Both games could've gone either way. Florida was lucky to get that win.
Not crazy to say that A&M could be playing in the National Championship next year.
