Anyone see the 30 on 30 from ESPN about Benji Wilson
There was a brief snipit of Derrick Rose in High School when he played for the HS state champion Simeon.

Pretty neat clip.

The 30 on 30's is about they only thing ESPN does worth a damn. The rest of their programing is predominanlty lies and propoganda.

Yes, I saw it and it was very good (but sad) like all 30for30s.
I do vaguely remember that happening, but didnt know any of the details. I think Benji was one reason that Rose's brothers were so protective of him.

The only time I watch anything by ESPN is when they have Tiger basketball. They are just too agenda oriented to trust. They report what is happening by removing reality and inserting their own version. I think in journalism that is called editorializing by way of fallacy. They are starting to be as bad as the Enquirer. No need for accuracy.

While ESPN can be quite annoying and over the top- and is certainly guilty of promoting certain schools and even leagues- sometimes influencing sports rather than broadcasting them...

Lies and propaganda just sounds so paranoid.

I highly doubt many would be willing to lose ESPN and its networks from their television service.

Still curious how much money the hospital dropped on that lawsuit.

Me too. Heck, it made me look up all the level 1 trauma centers in TN and where I live now.

If everyone realized the stranglehold that the ESPN companies have on their cable & satellite bills (the highest single expense on the lower tier line- currently close to $9.00 per subscriber) they might re-consider and start a boycott.

From what I got out of the film, the Wilson kid pretty much dared the other kid to shoot him. A really stupid move.

I've seen most of the 30 for 30. My favorite was Bo Jackson. I did see the Ben Wilson one.

The Bo Jackson story was particularly awesome. To me he is the Jim Thorpe of our time. Just an amazing athlete.

Will have to catch the Benji Wilson story. Don't know anything about it.

RE: Anyone see the 30 on 30 from ESPN about Benji Wilson
Some of them (30 at 30) have been really good.

The U (1980s Miami)
The Best that Never Was (Marcus Dupree)
The Two Escobars (Columbian Soccer 1990s)
9.79
Reggie and the Knicks
Guru of Go (The one about Loyola Marymount)
Ghosts of Ole Miss
USFL
Band that would not die (Baltimore Colts)
Once Brothers (Divac)

Some have been lamer...
Evert and Martina
Marilyn Jones
Ricky Williams
Allen Iverson

All good though- The fantasy baseball creators, Terry Fox, Ali v. Holmes etc...

I don't think Kells was on Simeon... He is just a guy who played ball with Ben around the neighborhood.

Playground leagues and the such.

Thought it was very interesting, and good, that his case was able to sue off his potential. Sets a very good legal precedent.

They sued because of negligence on the hospital's part.

The calculation of damages was based on his earnings potential.

Any other family who lost a loved one could sue as well, but wouldn't have the ability to show as much financial loss.

Right...but it was the first case where they were able to sue for damages of potential earnings.
