And don't even try to say it was a forward pass. It's a lateral as clear as day at 2:15 of this video.

"One of the most unbelievable endings in the history of the NFL."

As a Titans fan...that play is forever etched in my mind. Unfortunately, they had another climatic game finish a few weeks later that didn't go their way.

(and Bills fans, every subsequent review and computer analysis showed lateral)

Also, gotta love the "Whoomp!, There it is!" to close the game out.

For some reason, I knew it was a lateral all along even before seeing the most defining replay I saw mentioned in the OP.

I saw Franco's immaculate reception, Clark's stab in the EZ from Montana, and the Stanford band buster, but nothing compares to Reich's sub/comeback....craziest of all time.

RE: OT: It's the anniversary of my favorite play in NFL history
Me too (the 20th anniversary was last Thursday by the way). I was too young to remember much but all I can remember is either my dad or grandfather saying "They're coming back!" to which the other one replied "Already?"

I thought it was the Cowboys so I was happy. Later on I'd lament the moment as I moved to Texas and became a Houston sports fan. :muttering:

It's not once in a lifetime when Houston sports are involved. Jim Valvano? The Greatest Baseball Game Ever Played? Pujols' 9th inning shot? 2011 C-USA Championship? Guess what city was on the wrong end of all of those?

I was watching in Houston and remember saying "he reached back for it...he reached back for it"...I think too many fixated on where his body was and not what the path of the ball was.

LOL, you think? That's why to this day some still can't grasp how it was obviously a lateral. It was on a solid yard line, going back. Not much but a little, certainly not going forward.
