Troy: Sources tell me Wayne Bolt is the leading candidate to replace Jeremy Rowell as the defensive coordinator at Troy. Bolt served in an off-the-field capacity at Auburn for the last couple of years under Gene Chizik. He previously served as the defensive coordiantor at Troy at one point in time under Larry Blakeney

I can't help but think of this as good news.

He was a pretty good DC when he had Demarcus Ware on his team.

Yes, through stomach surgery.

A couple of years ago he had gastric bypass surgery, and dropped some significant tonnage. I don't know whether he kept it off. For his sake, I hope so.

Both of Troy's Co-ordinators at that time were signed by other schools - UAB and Auburn - and both wound up being fired - the OC in the middle of year one. Perhaps Bolt's weight loss will allow him to return to being the DC & coach he was at Troy which got him hired by Watson Brown years ago. Bolt has not been an on the field coach since his UAB & ISU days.

Maybe he can walk across the field at halftime now.

It true...He will be coming back to TROY as our DC for 2013. He was our most successful DC in TROY history.

In 1991, Bolt joined the staff at Troy University, working under fellow former Auburn assistant Larry Blakeny as the offensive line coach. In 1997, he was promoted to defensive coordinator and assistant head coach for the Trojans. Bolt's defenses were extremely successful at Troy. In 2002, in only the second season competing at the NCAA I-A level, the Trojans produced one of the nation's top defenses under Bolt's guidance. The Trojans ranked 4th nationally in total defense, yielding only 276.8 yards per game. The unit ranked 13th in rushing defense (105.3 yards per game), 30th in scoring defense (21.0 ppg) and 33rd in pass efficiency defense (112.42).

Go back and look at who they played during that time. You can have Bolt.

Not to pop your bubble, but our defenses absolutely blew chunks while he was our DC. I suspect that is why AB is so happy *y'all* have him.

Not to bust your bubble but UAB and Iowa State arnt exactly loaded down with talent and success.

He did just fine with us for many years.

ANYTHING is an improvement over Rowell. Giving up 500+ yards to everyone was not acceptable.
