Marshall School of Medicine Recieves 2.5 Million Dollar Gift

Quote:HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University has received a $2.5 million gift from the BrickStreet Insurance Foundation Inc. to establish a research endowment.

The donation is expected to be matched through the state’s “Bucks for Brains” West Virginia Research Trust Fund, for a total benefit to Marshall of 5 million.

Great news for Marshall and everyone in or near Huntington

Its amazing how quickly Marshall is turning the corner to be a clinical research school. Just last year they announced they would be partnering with the University of Kentucky (UK) as part of the National Institutes of Health institutional Clinical and Translational Science Awards program aimed at speeding the time for laboratory discoveries to benefit patients. That partnership with UK really got Marshall's "foot in the door" so to speak. Very happy to hear of this announcement.

Thanks to WV program "Bucks For Brains" that 2. 5 million is matched and becomes 5 million dollars. Just as the 5 million dollar gift from the Cline Family last year became 10 million dollars.

Nice, congrats ODU trying to partner with Eastern Virginia Medical School to be the ODU school of medicine.

I thought William & Mary had taken that partnership possibility over. I remember there being an announcement about that a few months back.

Either way: Congrats to Marshall, that's awesome! Money coming in is always a good thing.

Yea that's why i said trying, W&M have the inside track unfortunately. I haven't heard anything new in a while though.
