SAN ANTONIO -- Louisville (Ky.) Trinity wide receiver James Quick arrived at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl listing Ohio State as his favorite, but by week's end the Rivals250 prospect picked the hometown team that had been topping his list for much of the recruiting process.

"I'm going to the University of Louisville," Quick announced Saturday. "[Dad] had a big factor, but it was ultimately my decision."

Quick had narrowed his list to Louisville and Ohio State over Christmas break, dropping schools such as Oregon, Kentucky and Tennessee.

He took official visits to those two schools, ending with a trip to Louisville the weekend of Dec. 14.

James Quick has said he wanted to play with Teddy Bridgewater.
"What really excited me the most about that visit was their players get along with each other real well," Quick said about his Louisville visit. "It's home and my mom and dad can come see me at all the home games. They are going to the ACC and they play freshmen."

The opportunity to play as a freshman was one thing Quick's head coach Bob Beatty -- also the head coach of the East team at the Army Bowl this week -- cited as a potential check in the pros column for the Cardinals.

In the past, Quick cited the opportunity to catch passes from Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and the chance to work with wide receivers coach Ron Dugans as positives for the Cardinals.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Quick ended his career at Louisville Trinity as one of the state of Kentucky's most decorated prep players. He won three Class 6A state titles in a row to close out his career and was named Mr. Football in the state of Kentucky as a senior.

In Quick, Louisville is adding the nation's No. 14 wide receiver and the No. 114 overall player. He is the third four-star prospect head coach Charlie Strong has added this week, after the Cardinals were able to flip Orange Park, Fla., defensive end De'Asian Richardson from West Virginia on Friday and picked up a commitment from Bradenton (Fla.) Manatee defensive tackle Derrick Calloway on Sunday.
