GJ wasn't criticized because he shot 7-11 from the field, make 2 dagger 3 pointers, and had 16 points. He was our only reliable scoring option down the stretch. His charge was actually a blocking foul. Why the **** would someone criticize him?

When has JJ been criticized the last 9 games? He has been universally praised as he should be. Wtf are you talking about?

There were people complaining about JJ making bad decisions at the end of the UT game...When he got his shot blocked in the lane. JJs decision to drive the lane was a much better decision than Gerons shooting 3s with a hand in his face with 25 seconds left on the shot clock... But Shallow fans here only react to whether the orange ball goes through the Orange hoop with a net on the bottom. JJs decision was the same decision as Geron driving to the hole getting his shot blocked and Geron driving to the hole getting the charge...But people question JJ and nothing is said about Geron.

So yeah it happened even if the all knowing Stammers didn't see it...So yeah you 100% validated my statement...No one should be criticising JJ just as no one should be criticising Geron...But JJ gets sh1t anyway.

Again, NOBODY has been criticizing JJ's play in the last 9 games. You are either hallucinating, or you are under the influence of God knows what. I have no clue wtf you are talking about.

Agreed. I don't get this at all.

JJ is playing the best BB of his career and the team is playing its best BB of the year, yet some of the angriest and more heated arguments of the year are being had by certain posters.

STILL this angry about one game back in November? That's a joke, right?

WTF is wrong with these people?

Its feels more and more like some of these people are more pissed because things are going well for CJP and the TEAM is looking like a better coached team, thus its "hellfire and brimstone" time about sh** that happened back in November.

This thread is a friggin embarrassment for the board and fan base.

Want an example about how "miserables" inhabit our fan base...... HERE IT IS. Team playing its best ball of the season? check. Miserable posters angrier than ever? check.

Point blank.

Get a life people. SERIOUSLY, GET A LIFE. YOU CLEARLY NEED ONE.

Joe drives the lane and gets blocked and is criticised Geron drives the lane and gets an offensive foul once and blocked another occasion both during UTs run and its not even mentioned. Double Standard I would say.

Read this thread oh great and all knowing Stammers

I think you have far to high an opinion of yourself, you need to take it down a notch and actually listen occasionally.

What a ******* joke. Memtigbb and NMTB and both of them got rightfully blasted by everyone else, and NMTB later (after he got blasted) qualified it by saying it was only one play.

So all you have over the last 9 games is Memtigbb, which is the same as criticism from a zygote. That doesn't qualify as criticism. 99.999999% of the fans and 100% of the fans with a brain have not been criticizing JJ over the last 9 games.

What a stupid argument.

I love the way he is playing. I don't know why people are debating a very clear and obvious turning point that is as plain as day to see.

How can you say for sure the benching was the only reason for Joe’s turning point when he was switched to SG after that game? I think it was a combination of both because BOTH DID happen.

Josh said in a TV interview that he made the switch to help Joe because he has less responsibility at SG and is more offensive minded. Now Joe is playing more point but the difference is after he calls the play he (usually) passes to Chris then run routes like a wing or SG.

Josh also said he tweaked the offense a little and it appears to be working. I know it is for Joe.

He always had the ball in his hands against UT.

Go watch it again Stammers.

JJ started at point but after he called the play he would give to Geron and he would come out on top. JJ almost never came back out to the point position. When AB or CC was in JJ played the 2 guard during the entire set.

It’s my guess Josh doesn’t want Geron to call the plays yet but this may change with time. If this happens we will 4 guards capable of playing the point and 3 that could play the 2, which could drive some of our opponents nuts.

I expect to see more zones real soon.

The first turnover was just a bad angle, and if Shaq had had decent hands, its not a turnover. Other than that, he did what he was supposed to do. Got the ball to bigs (Shaq, Stan and Ferro), got the ball to AB on a break, got an offensive rebound (it was a pure hustle play on the baseline) and got a foul on Hollins and made both ft's. Hollins scored four points when Joe was in the game, 37 when he wasn't.

Yanking Joe after the foot slip was absurd, especially in light of a Crawford alley oop that goes over the backboard, Adonis stepping over the baseline on an inbounds, or the myriad other brain farts the other guys have.

The idea that Andre rips off 13 points in five minutes to end the half should have said something. That happens on Joe's watch and the orgers here would have been foaming at the mouth.

Guys don't start when they are 2 minutes late for practice. Niles and Simpkins got kicked off the team for having a poor attitude. Carmouche was kicked off the team for having a poor attitude. JJ's body language, sulking, pouting and lack of effort were unacceptable.

8 points and 9 turnovers in 27 minutes were more than enough. You keep giving JJ the benefit of the doubt, but his performance was **** and his demeanor was even shittier.

Looking back it was obviously a great move by Pastner. People look for stupid reasons to try and justify stupid complaints. EVERYTHING...from JJ's performance, his effort, and his demeanor changed completely since the Minnesota game. JJ was doing things that were completely unacceptable and since then he isn't doing any of those things.

You can blabber all you want about Austin Hollins and any other crap; it's irrelevent. The move was about JJ and the overall good of the team. Obviously, the move worked like a charm so it shouldn't be questioned.

So the coach asked for more from JJ after a good game then he has a bad game...Do you think that had anything to do with his down play? The only two bad games he had all year were after Pastners statements. And honestly he only had 1 bad game...VCU...Minnesota doesn't count...He really didn't play in the Minny game. So did the move truly work...Before the VCU game was averaging 13.5 points 5 assists and 1 Turnover.

So oh yeah benching him at Minny really improved upon those numbers Or are the numbers pretty much the same outside of JJ hitting more jumpers...HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

JJ Career Up To The Minnesota Game
73 games
Inconsistent effort
Inconsistent performance
Very poor demeanor/body language

JJ Since Then
9 games
Very consistent effort
Very consistent performance
Very positive demeanor/body language

The turning point was being sat after scoring 8 points with 2 assists and 9 turnovers in 27 minutes during a two game stretch...AND more importantly; having a HORRIBLE attitude.

This is a prime example of clueless miserables with an agenda. Pastner tried EVERYTHING with JJ for 2 years and nothing changed him. Pastner sat him for almost an entire game and it changed him overnight.

Pastner obviously made a PERFECT move. Nothing could be more clear cut.

JJ plays harder when his offense is going...Nothing has changed outside of shots going in...Nothing that Pastner did...Just found his shot, that is the only difference. Or did Josh give him some jump shooting MOJO class to fix his shot.

But you are the one with the agenda...You don't see the correlation that the way JJ started the season is exactly the same the way he is playing now with him hitting more shots. No obvious change after the Minny game...He was having a very good season before he went to the Bahamas. But if you want to praise Josh for fixing something be my guest...It just was never broken this year...The kid had a bad game...It happens and it will happen again.

I step up and defend JJ because he is obviously held to a different standard by many on this board than any other player on the team...Its almost like many people on here would rather he not be on the team. Prime example is people were slamming JJ for getting his shot blocked after a strong drive to the lane during the UT game. Yeah his shot got blocked but the lack of understanding of the game by many here is just horrible. The same people where praising Geron for taking a contested 3 pointer with 25 seconds left on the shot clock...Because it went in. Which one is a better decision?

That shot wasn't even blocked. It was clearly a foul. Dude hacked the hell out of his forearm.

Because there are some that'd rather see him fail.
