Knoxville News Sentinel on Game Tonight
Quote: A “T-I-G-E-R-S TIGERS” filled an emptying Thompson-Boling as the clock dwindled down on an 85-80 Memphis victory on Friday night.
Quote: Tears rolled down cheeks in the Vols’ locker room afterward.
“It was Memphis,” said Josh Richardson, who finished with a career-high 20 points, but will long remember the game for an entirely different reason. “They’re right down the street. We don’t like them. They don’t like us. We fought so hard to win that game that it hurts so bad to lose it.”

For a fan base that claims that this isn't a real rivalry, there players sure do seem to disagree.

I can say with pride that me and the 3 people with me helped fuel that TIGERS cheer at the end.
Props to the fans who were behind the away (Tigers) basket on the upper level though. I could hear y'all the entire second half.

and, once again, I send props to you for trying to educate the posters on VN.....it must be frustrating at times, but you show tremendous dedication...

Yeah we beat them...But I really don't dislike this squad of Vol players...Outside of Jarnell...
Hell I really don't know them...
I learned to hate Prince and Lofton and Bradshaw but this squad really doesn't bother me much...Not sure why. Heck I really don't have a dislike for Kuonzo...Probably because he hasn't beaten us.

It's a dirty job...
From reading their brilliant analysis I gathered a few gems:
- Memphis hit miracle shots. UT run was "will".
- Gameplans don't matter, but Martin is better at coaching.
- If they had Maymon, they probably would have won. (Ignoring Tarik)
It makes me sad about the BE break up. At least we would have had legitimate and insightful analysis from the other side. Instead we get to play teams like the Vawls who are apparently comprised of fans whose knowledge of basketball is how many games of NBA2k13 on the Xbox they've played.

Yes, Pastner was a "miracle comeback" away from being humiliated.
Both coaches had a week to game plan, but Pastner's players simply "did better". Pastner sucks, Martin will be fine, Memphis will rue the day that we won this game.
It feels good to be a winner.

Indeed. Again, never having been there, they have no idea what it's like to have a true basketball program....

I read the whole game thread. They sound so much like us without the sunshine pumpers (they don't have many that I could see). To sum it up, players suck, coach sucks, we miss BP....NIT here we come. Sounds familiar?

Oh Jesus... plus the pack of Memphis fans with the butt chugging shirts who were walking out of Thompson Bowling.
Priceless.
