2014 Merger classes
The long awaited classes for the 2014 merged Grand-Am/ALMS series have been announced. Basically for 2014 Grand-Am will add the LMP2, LMPC ALMS GT and GTC classes to their own divided into 4 classes. With DP/LMP2 in one class. LMPC in another the ALMS GT class and the GA GT/GTC combined. The status of where the GX class will end up is not officially known but may end up in same class as GA GT/ GTC. Also the idiotic Delta Wing will be allowed to run in DP/LMP2.

Hard to understand how it is you can buy out a failing series as Grand-Am did with ALMS and then go ahead and adopt many of the formulas that led to the ALMS being in a position of being bought out.

What is even more sickening is that as of today NOT A SINGLE LMP2 has announced they will be running in 2013. NOT ONE. Conquest had their car repo'ed because the builder has pulled out of the US market. Dempsey racing has their sponsors leave the series. While Level 5 racing finds themselves in the same position they were in in 2011. Where they were the only LMP2 car running. They have stated they do not want to run if they are the only LMP2 car.

All of this after 2012 saw only 2 LMP2 run every race.
