What is your DREAM / IDEAL conference set-up?
Since the "Who do we add" thread has kind of died, thought I'd get another one jump-started on what would be the ideal/dream set-up?

Is it divisions? Round-robin? Pods? West coast expansion? 24 teams? 8 teams? Be realistic (i.e. no FBS football programs unless it's BYU or ND).

I'll Start: 12 teams. Division set-up. Winners from each division are#1 and #2 seeds in conference tourney. 18 game schedule. Play everyone in your division twice (10 games). Play every team in other division at least once (6 games). Play 1 cross-division rival home-&-home every yr (1 game), and 1 random cross-division home-&-home every yr (1 game).

EAST
Georgetown
Villanova
St. John's
Xavier
Seton Hall
Providence

WEST
Marquette
Notre Dame
Butler
Creighton
DePaul
St. Louis

10 team double-round-robin. C7 plus Xavier, Butler, VCU.

I don't choose to think about whether to replace Providence and Seton Hall.

Why would we? Just cause they've gotten suffocated the last decade in the Big East? That's not a good indicator for future success under this set-up (esp St. John's)

Also Creighton over VCU everyday, any day.

Going just by basketball, this is the best conference I can think of. Won't happen, shouldn't happen, but I don't think you argue that anything else would be a better basketball conference.

East:
Georgetown
Marquette
Villanova
St. John's
Seton Hall
Xavier
VCU

West:
Marquette
DePaul
Butler
Dayton
Wichita State (over Saint Louis, whose basketball program is would be the worst in the new conference but is a better fit)
Creighton
Gonzaga

Please, lets not start this nonsense about "kicking" a school out. It was bad enough when it happened with some of the fb fans, we dont need that poison carried over to a new board and spewed by some of our own.

Well, yeah. The OP said Dream conference, and it's possible that an "ideal conference" would replace some C-7 members with other schools. But, again, I don't choose to think about that.

I should have just left this whole thread alone.

Geeeez...everyone acts like Seton Hall always came in last in the BE. We're pretty much a middle of the pack team. My dream conference right now would be the C7 plus X, Butler, Dayton. With an eye towards expansion if the opportunity comes up in the future.

RE: What is your DREAM / IDEAL conference set-up?
I know it won't happen but my dream realistic conference would be a 14 team conference consisting of:

East:
Georgetown
Villanova
St. John's
Seton Hall
VCU
Providence
Butler

West:
Gonzaga
Creighton
Marquette
Xavier
Dayton
Saint Louis
Depaul

I doubt the C7 are courageous enough to do a 14 team league but this league would easily get 6-7 bids yearly and a great TV deal. Wishful thinking though.
