He HAS managed to PUBLICLY humiliate our bb coach TWICE over scheduling issues.

He can call the shots all he wants to but there things that need to be cleaned up and handled PRIVATELY. He can change his mind on issues all he wants to but COMMUNICATE with the affected people.

A lot of the comments here make it real easy for me to tell who has and who hasn't ever been in a substantive leadership position.

Humiliated the basketball coach over scheduling issues? Is it in Josh's contract that he has full access and responsibility for basketball scheduling? I'm pretty sure Bowen is ultimately responsible for it.

Most all D1 bb coaches have absolute control of their non-conference scheduling......

Really? So do the coaches call each other, or get calls from ESPN suggesting an opponent and a date and then check with the FedEx Forum to see if the date is available....Or would Josh say hey Tom, Marquette wants to come in December, see what you can do?

All of the above.

RE: Bowen's record at SJSU
Then why was Cal forced to continue to play UT when he made it public he didnt want the series?
All coaches have to play teams they might not want to play because of business.

Parrish and Calkins go apesh*t on the radio and in print about how dumb that is.

The next day, it is leaked that Bowen in negotiating an extension.

Calkins and Parrish kill Bowen for extending the series.

smh

You left out the part here Bowen didn't return Calkins' phone call. That didn't seem to sit well with him.

You left out the spat Calkins and Josh had as well. When that came out I knew Calkins was going to be writing an article that stirred the pot. That was before the UT thing came out, it was a perfect way to create havoc and negativity around the program. Most likely it would have all been aimed at Josh until Bowen insulted Calkins by having Winn return his call. Then he turned his fury on Bowen but still stirring the pot to cause havoc around the program.

2 birds with 1 stone.

I think so but that's this year and Bowen wasn't there this year.

If people on here (not you) want to pick nits then let's pick nits.

Also, as we well know, being ranked and beating a ranked opponent are two entirely different things.

hahaha you people kill me with your ignorance/blindness/agenda- I guess all this just happens overnight. I'll take Bowen's judgement over JPs any day. JP should really use all his time coaching because that is proving to be more challenging than was expected. He's already killed our home OOC schedule. Samford, UT-Martin, Ohio, Austin Peay, Lipscomb, Oral Roberts, Loyola (Md.) and Harvard. We now have a SOS around 150. What a joke!!

And clearly Bowen has no clue as to what he's doing as an AD: As of April 2012, current head coaches from (San Jose State) the baseball, women’s golf, women’s gymnastics, men's soccer, women's soccer and women's swimming and diving programs had all received conference “Coach of the Year” honors.

read more on their (SJSU) athletic accomplishments this year

During the period in which Bowen was head of the athletic program at SJSU. The Tigers went to more bowl games and NCAA tournaments than SJSU and appeared in the AP top 25 as many times as SJSU.
