Then why did we offer him in the first place? I thought he played pretty well in the all-star game.

You missed the sarcasm.

Hopefully. If not those grapes sound pretty sour.

i was hoping he was making fun of bammers

RE: Kid de-commits from UAB without another...
maybe we backed off of the kid
maybe he decided to explore his options
don't know if he has character or grade issues
We simply don't know the reasons why he decommited.
He sounded like in the article that he was told to look elsewhere (his coach stated that he will land on his feet somewhere, he is a good kid) that doesn't sound like he decided on his on to decommit.
Personally, i would love to have the kid because he seems to have good size for a db and it might get us some more kids from Daphne down the road.

Recruiting is a crazy game i can assure you of that.

A number of schools will lose and gain players during that time. I just want UAB to get the players it NEEDS for the coming seasons and their decisions only count on (or after) the first Wednesday in Feb. In regards to the Jenkins kid, at least it appears he was trying to be honest and above board in his position..

spot on!

I agree with Cougar Paws.
You cant blame the kid if he got a better offer.
I mean look at Boise they backed out too.

Now go back to your board and try to hold together your sinking ship.

Five questions as Alabama State starts spring football Tuesday
http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2013/...cart_river

3. Who will emerge as the gem(s) of Alabama State's highly-touted recruiting class: The Hornets 2013 signing class was tied Tennessee State as the best in black college football as determined by BoxtoRow.com.

Now, the freshmen, which included the likes of defensive back Trey Jenkins, who had offers from Northern Illinois and UAB, as was defensive tackle Marcus Adams, who was committed to Western Kentucky early and also held offers from Ole Miss and TCU, won't suit up until the summer. But Barlow also reeled an impressive number of transfers from big-time Division I programs, including guys from Florida, Missouri and West Virginia.

I don't know the Jenkins kid and his academic background. What I do know is that WEHS had many kids take and pass a certain Math 11 and go on scholarship to schools like AL State, AL A&M, TN State, Tuskegee and Stillman. When Quinton Reese took that same Math 11 course and was granted a scholarship to AU, the "Clearing House" refused to accept the grade for it and Quinton had to return to WEHS in the fall to take another Math 11 class in order to satisfy the "Clearing House" which he did. (He and Pernell Davis finished WEHS together with Davis playing at UAB)

That was the first time we became aware that there was a difference between what some schools can / will accept and what some won't / can't.
