RE: Where is the insider info on USM?
I think we have to take a Big East (football side) bid if we're offered. There's an established pecking order, and turning down an opportunity to move up would be counterproductive.
As for the MWC, I think we have to accept their bid, too. They basically poached Boise State. That implies that the MWC has moved up the pecking order.

It's hard to argue after what BSU just did. But I will say that "western" has not been a good thing in CFB lately.

For all our sports, east is better.

RE: Where is the insider info on USM?
SOOOOOOOOO TIREDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD of reading about this "established pecking order". You know what, somebody forgot to tell the MWC. There is no such thing. There are contracts, there is winning and losing, and there is CHANGE. Boise will lose again, big. So will Alabama. North Texas will be a top 15 team one of these seasons. The SEC, like Wal*Mart, will lose its spot at the top. Mobile phones will be more important than televisions.
Does anyone on these boards ever have original thoughts?

1) which is why Boise is making a move/getting all they can now, while they have the chance.
2) Alabama is already in the SEC and will always be a national program win or lose. So what's your point?
3) Maybe so, and when they are, they will move up first chance they get leaving us in CUSA to once again watch another program pass us by.
Think harder.

If the the Big East was an AQ conference... then yes, we'd want out of C-USA and into the Big East ASAP. That's what we've always wanted and felt like we deserved... a seat at the table. Now that the Big East has lost its seat... it's just not looking desirable. I see it as getting an invitation to remain in C-USA... so obviously, there's not much excitement on our end.
There were only a few teams I really enjoyed playing... Houston and ECU are examples of those. I could care less to play Tulane or Memphis again. Football-wise, I'd rather play La Tech and Middle Tennessee than those two.
Everybody has concerns about these FCS schools moving up into C-USA. However, it's not like this is something new. I remember when USF was invited to C-USA. I thought it was a ridiculous move. USF proved to be a decent program. I think Old Dominion, Charlotte, and UTSA very well may do the same.
So, for us USM fans... sure, as a whole, we'd rather play with teams we've played against historically. But, its not the end of the world if we stay in C-USA. Both conferences will have the same access. I doubt the money will be greatly different... but I do think the Big East will bring in more TV money.
What I want is a seat at the table. I know it's the longest of shots... but I want us in the Big 12.
Rowdy does not speak for all us, thank goodness.

.....they were for the most part spot on....Big 12 was the only stretch....we all want what is best for our future...b/c we are football laden...we beg for it...doesn't necessarily mean we deserve it.
I am still not sold on the new restructuring and how this could be to our benefit....somewhat similar to BSU...IMO
