As far as UT goes, until they play the game they owe us from 2004, that they have postponed to 2017, Id tell them to take a hike. Why would I create a new contract with a business partner who failed to meet the requirements set in the first contract? As a pure business decision, we dont owe UT a thing.

That was then and this is now...If the same thing happens under Bowen, then we can rail on him. UT is one of the few BCS programs (in fact once a very high level program) that will play us home and home.

2017 has yet to happen. The pattern already exists. Just because our leadership changed doesnt mean UT will suddenly decide to honor contracts that are made. Id love to hear one good reason for needing to push back a football game for 13 years, other than the fact that it was a power play by their athletic dept to put us in our place.

My point has more to with UT and their AD than it does with Bowen.

No offense but:

Quote:In September 2011 Dave Hart, formerly the assistant athletic director at the University of Alabama, was introduced as Tennessee's new athletic director.

Hart didn't push back the game. Two new ADs trying to work out a positive relationship between the two departments.

Are you 100% positive on that? I was told we were supposed to play that game fall 2013 & it got pushed to 2017...would Dave have been in control of the UT athletic dept at that time?

RE: Calkins on the Pastner/Bowen Contretemps
Since I am someone near the age of Bowen and have kids somewhere along the age of Pastner I can tell you this. They talk a lot more than they listen. Josh is going 100 mph all the time. Talking to recruits (when permissible), talking to media, coaching and doing his thing around town. I know he's very active on social media. Distraction. He talks way too much, way too much.

Meanwhile, Bowen is trying to make some sense out of what next year's football, basketball, and even baseball schedules or going to look like without knowing who's leaving the Big East in '13 or '14. Or who is coming in for 13. Good grief, all of the Big East AD's and the commissioner must be on Prozac by now.

Pastner can say he doesn't want to play Tennessee. And Bowen can say yes we are.
